Khols Sticker Shock (local news report)

They aired this segment again this morning. This would be the third time I have seen them air this.

I stopped in Kmart once to pick up shampoo...the cashier was shocked when I asked to pay the full price that was listed on the shelf tag versus the sale price that was $1 more. The manager honored the shelf price and I walked away shaking my head.

A friend of mine was in JCP to get her hair done. The person helping her told her she should be excited about their new, lower prices. And then quoted her $10 more than she had paid before for the same service.

Same friend then said she walked thru the store and was doing some browsing. I can't remember which item it was, but she noticed the new lower price listed on the tag. And said that under that new, lower price was a tag. With the same price. So much for new, lower pricing.

I refuse to step foot in Kohl's ever again. Their pricing is insulting. I went with my sister a couple weeks ago. They had a ton of buy one get one free sales. When I checked some things out, the price of one was in some cases more than double of the price anywhere else. In particular a Serta Memory foam/Gel pillow was buy one get one free. Sounds good, but the price for one was $100! So that means $50 each with the buy one get one free, but when I got home I searched that exact same pillow all over the internet and could not find it priced any higher than $42 on over a dozen sites. So I could have gotten two at full price for $84...$16 cheaper than Kohl's "sale" price. Another example was a selection of "wall words" wall quotes. Buy one get one free, but one little saying like "Live, Laugh, Love" was $35! Target has the exact same quotes I saw at Kohl's for $15.99 regular price.

Kohl's pricing practices are sickening. I have no idea how they are still in business.

I agree that some of their stuff has higher original prices. However, I have found if I use their card holder coupons I can get really good deals. And I like that Kohls (and Target) can look up credit card purchases for returns.

I like too that Kohls will take stuff back no matter how long you have had it for, or no matter the condition it is in. I posted before that I found shoes in the back of my closet that I never wore, the receipt was still in the box, and they were over a year old. They took them back, and actually gave me back cash as it was a cash purchase. And I think JCP is now doing the same thing.:thumbsup2 For me, that is worth paying a bit more for. Target is so strict with their returns, and that is a big negative.
