Keys to the Kingdom

Hi.

Is Keys to the Kingdom worth the time commitment of 4.5hrs? Has ANYONE been disappointed with this tour? Consensus seems to be overwhelmingly positive. Are there any other tours which you like better? My wife and I are going for a quick trip without the children and I wanted to try something different.

Nothing but positives from me on all the tours I have taken, 8 so far. Keys was great. If you like MK the best, do that one. If you prefer Epcot or AK moore, try one of those. MGM does not have one to itself.

Better? Maybe Backstage Magic, the big one, about 8 hours, but great.

I did the Keys to the Kingdom tour a couple of weeks ago, and thought it was pretty much worth the money. You get to go to some cool backstage areas, and learn a lot of facts about how things were designed and built.

My one disappointment in the tour is that we didn't spend very much time in the utilidors, and the parts we saw were pretty boring. When I took the tour three years ago, we spent a good chunk of the tour in the utilidors, and we got to see the costume and cosmotology departments. This time, we spent about 10 minutes down there, and the most exciting thing we saw was the garbage chute.

But, I still think the tour is worth doing. It will give you a different perspective of the park.

Wow!! The garbage chute!! Do you get to see actual garbage coming down--or just the chute??
Funning side, we took the tour some years ago too, and we also spent a nice chunk of time down in the utilidors. Sounds though like they might have changed things since then--and not for the better. The utilidors part of the tour is one of the primary reasons to take it.

On the Backstage Magic tour, we spent about 1/2 hour in Utilidors. It was very busy in there and you needed to keep alert. I wonder if they are reducing the time due to insurance liabililty or OSHA rules.

DH and I took the KTTK tour on 8/18 and we didn't even get to see the garbage chute! Our utilidor time was limited and we saw two corridors and a map, but the tour is worth so much to add depth and detail to any MK fans. Our guide was Rae, whose name I have seen on the boards before, she was excellent in having a tremendous library of Disney facts at hand. I also enjoyed the lunch at Columbia Harbor House. We did see the parade staging area, two employee parking lots (Rae promised us two), and some other backstage areas. We visited the Jungle Cruise and the Haunted Mansion on the tour. Our trip was 5 hours long, and well work it to us.

I did this tour in September 2001 and loved the tour. There is a lot more to it than going into the utilidor area under the park. You learn so much more about the park, its workings, etc. You get to ride 3 rides (although we only did 2 ~ our party broke up before Pirates, as the line was too ling & someone wanted to leave - and it was raining!)

A friend of mine is one of the guides. i highly recommend this tour.

DH and I took the tour in July and it was awesome. I cried during parts of the tour, Disney magic gets me everytime Our guide was Nicole and she was super!! We started our tour at 9:30 and finished up as the 3pm parade was beginning. We had a fantastic lunch at Columbia Harbor House which we had never been to, and planning on returningk we loved it!!! Brick was at lunch and he was just hysterical, spent a lot of time talking to DH and I. We spent a lot of time in the Ultidors, nothing was rushed

We totally loved taking the tour, and I would love to take the 8 hour tour, as well as the Yultide Fantasy Tour sometime during a holiday visit!!

I also took the tour a couple of weeks ago (8/19). I thought it was worth the time and money (- AP discount) True, we did not spend much time in the Utilidors (there is a lot of traffic down there) and the garbage chute is just a large steel pipe overhead. We did 2 rides, PotC & HM.
