Hello,
My wife and I are thinking of doing this tour, has anyone done this?, and could anyone tell me about it? Whats the lunch like and so forth? Thank you!

I went on KTTK Tour the first week in December last year....it was wonderful. Our guide pointed out so things that were very cool and I now look at a few things differently, could be a spoiler if you don't want to know some of the "how it's done", Lunch was at the Columbia Harbor House and it was good also. My tour guide was Brick and he was very knowledgeable and interesting too.

I read that they let you go behind the scenes of some rides, could you tell me which ones?

We went behind the scenes of Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion.
Very interesting, but it does spoil some of the magic. I particularly liked the parade float garage area.
The link above describes the KTTK tour and all the other tours available. :sunny:

We did this in Oct. of 2005. We went behind the back of Splash Mt. Rode Pirates and the HM. OH one little hint, at the Columbia Harbor House, there are no indoor plubming in Frontier Land. The reason, in that era, they did not have indoor plumbing, so the indoor plumbing is in Fantasy Land. Why? Cause it was a fantasy to have indoor plumbing during that era. :rotfl2: The tour is great. It is like 4 1/2 hours of walking, but you do have head phones. But the tour does not go into Tomorrow Land.

We were on this tour a couple of years ago and had a great time. We learned new things about Disney and our tour guide really knew his stuff. I think the lunch was a sandwhich from Columbia Harbor House

For our lunch, you could choose anything off the menu at the Columbia Harbour House. I think this was decided before the tour. It really is a great tour, and we also rode Haunted Mansion and Pirates.

Someone just posted that you have head phone on for this tour....tell me this isnt one of those walking tours where most places charge you like 20 bucks for the tape player and the headphones and you just walk around....I dont think disney would do that...but I thought that this was one of those tours where you walked and listened to a guide. I dont want to wear someone sweaty headphones YUK...

I did the tour solo last week while my DH was in a convention meeting (the reason we were able to go). I really enjoyed myself and it was one of the highlights of the trip! I checked in about twenty minutes before the tour began. They took my order for lunch then. They had bottled water out for everyone while we waited for the tour to begin. My tour guide was Hope. She was very knowledgeable about all things Disney. She pointed out many things in the park that I would not have noticed, but found very interesting. We went "backstage" to the parade floats and the utilidors. We rode Pirates (neat because of the popularity of the ride due to the renovations) and Haunted Mansion. We ate lunch at Columbia Harbor House. They had the tables all set up with place cards and the food waiting for us. Tour began at 9:00 and ended around 2:30. I think that the only reason that it ended then is because it was raining very hard! The tour guide said that she could talk about Disney all day and would go until we wanted to stop! There were no headphones so that everyone could hear the tour guide, we would just walk and then stop and then she would talk. We did recieve a key pin on the placecard at lunch. I really had a wonderful time on the tour! My husband teased me the rest of our trip about all the "info" that I learned on the tour. I can not wait to go again with him!

If anyone has any reservations, like myself, about going on the tour solo, do not hesitate! I was the only single one in the tour group, but the tour guide made sure that I was included and comfortable!

The headphones help you to hear the tour guide. Basically, the tour guide wears a microphone and you wear a receiver with headphones. When the tour guide speaks, you hear what he/she is saying directly in your ear. This is esp. helpful in noisy and loud areas or on rides like the HM where there are only 2 people in a car.

I went on the KTTK tour last month. It was great! I would highly recommend it. The lunch was at CHH and you had a choice of about 10 things for lunch- Salads, Sandwiches, etc. It was very informative but a lot of walking! We rode HM and Jungle Cruise.

Yes, you do get a KTTK tour pin (shaped like a key), plus you also keep your nag tag pin.

DH and I are taking this tour on December 11th. I am SO EXCITED!!! Thanks for all of the great reviews!

You get a name tag at the very begining when you check in for the tour. They have them printed up and you are handed the name tag. This way the tour guide knows who's in the tour group. When you get to lunch, there is a tag with your name on it and inside is a KTTK tour pin. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions. When you sign in they give you a bottle refreshment. Take the water. That way you can fill it up later on in the tour. They will not let you take bags. You can not take pics or video..but later on learned that we could take some pics...Oh well. Great tour. I would love to do it again.

Very cool-is the name tag like the ones the CMs wear in the park? (I'm assuming a different color or something tho)

BF is going to love all the little extras! I love the fact that he doesnt plan for anything and then turns around and gets stuff that he was never expecting...the look on his face is priceless!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

No not like the ones the CM's wear. They have Mickey and Minnie on them with the castle in the bacground in them. Mickey and Minnie are dressed the KTTKT guides. Which Mickey, Minnie, and the castle are animated. If you want I can scan what it will look like. Just send me a pm. :goodvibes

My DH and I did the KTTK on his 36th birthday. We had a wonderful time and he thought it was the best birthday ever! Our tour guide Matthew was the poster child of what a Disney cast member should be. We would love to do it again.

I'm planning on doing it solo in September. Too much walking for my mom. Thanks for all the information.:cool1:
