Keys to the kingdom

If anyone would like to see what the pins/name badge looks like...pm me.. I will be happy to share....

Can you just scan in the image and post the image on here? That way we all can see what it looks like! :)

we went in May of this year. We had Rae as our guide. She was very informative and "cheery" but next time I think I would like to have someone else. something about her just rubbed me wrong. also we thought the food at CHH left a little something to be desired.

Rae led the tour I took as well. I have taken several of the tours at WDW and she is my favorite guide so far even though they are all good.

Great tour, I enjoyed it a lot. And the headphones are great. I did use them on an AK tour a few years ago when they were testing them out, I did not have them on my Keys tour, a year before that if I recall.

All the tours I have taken (10 so far) have been well worth it. And make sure to get any discounts, like AP, DVC, etc, that you might be entitled to.

Hi All :wave2:

This is great information. I am making a solo trip in October and will be doing KTTK on the Sunday that I get there. The wife just doesn't have the disney appreciation that I do (she calls it "addiction" :rotfl2: ), so she isn't going.. Oh well, I am meeting some of my new DIS friends !   :grouphug:

Woooo HOOO !!!! 50th Post !

DW and I did KTTK in 2003. It was worth it. Seeing the backstage areas, the "good show/bad show" section, utilidors, and Haunted Mansion/Jungle Cruise with a guide was great. Our tour guide was Matthew, we think. He was great. Since we had an 0830 tour, we got to go into MK before it opened that day. Fund to watch everyone come pouring in when the gates opened. I agree with others: take the bottle of water they offer. You select your CHH meal before the tour starts. We also got a gold colored pin in the shape of a key to take home. Be prepared to walk! We were so tired after the tour (it was the first full day of our vacation) that we took the boat to WL, found a quiet spot on the 2nd/3rd floor above the lobby, and rested until it was time for our AP ressies. (AP was a wonderful meal, but DW was sooo tired that she didn't appreciate it fully until months after we returned home). Perhaps we should've made our ADR's for somewhere near the BC (where we were staying), or not planned on upscale table service for dinner that night.

Just chiming in...we did KTTK last October, and really loved it. We got to the park before opening that day for the tour, and were able to get the coveted 'picture in front of castle without crowds behind you' before the tour. We did Pirates and Haunted Mansion for our rides, because someone in our group asked our tour guide, Jeff, if we could do Pirates instead of Jungle Cruise. We felt like it was a really good value for the money spent, and would do it again. We started about 8:15am, and ended about 2pm, with lunch at Columbia Harbor House.

Thanks so much for all of the wonderful info. I'm taking this tour in September and sure do appreciate all of the info I can get.

How soon out can you book this trip? Sounds like something my DH would love to do.

Thanks

Kelly

Do you still go into the utilidors on the tour? I did this twice several years ago. No one mentioned this in their tour review but it was the highlight of my trip.

Yes, we went underground and behind the scenes as well. We looked at the water tank for SM and the warehouse that stores the parade floats.

In October, we went behind the scenes near Splash Mountain, but didn't get to go into the parade float parking garage. The tour guide said they were charging the batteries and if we got too close we could get a shock. We got to see the water area behind Splash Mountain, where they fish out the hats and such. We also went behind the scenes on Main Street, and that's where we went down into the Utilidors. We were down there for about, oh, 20-30 minutes, although you don't really get to see much. We also got to see Neverland (aka where Tink lands after her nightly flight from the castle). It was neat, but definately can spoil the magic if you're not into seeing how the magic is created.

do they give you adequate pee breaks?

I plan on bringing my camel back with me and will drink at will so i dont get dehydrated...but it causes me to have to peeeeeee!!! should I drink too much water.

Also, do you think I can wear my tevas with out too much trouble? We're going at the end of sept and dont want to get too hot...thanks!

There were enough potty breaks for me, and my DH jokes that I'm a leaky faucet! LOL!

We stopped, let's see, probably about 1.5 hours in (so around 10am), at the restrooms in Adventureland, and then again at noon at CHH for lunch (there are bathrooms on the upper level, waaaay back so that technically they're in Fantasyland!), and then the tour was over by 2pm and you could easily hit a restroom on Main Street.

So now I'm wondering...everything says you are not allowed a camera, but then I see people who say they used a camera. Which is it?

Looking forward to KTTK 8/13! :cool1:

Onstage, cameras are fine, backstage, put them away.

And if you need a water or restroom break, anytine, just ask the guide.

We went on the tour on Sunday July 16th at 9:00. We were good little guys and put our cameras, and phones in a locker before the tour started. When we met in the garden next to City Hall to go on the tour, everybody else had their phones and cameras. Nothing was said about them. When we booked the tour over the phone they told us we would not be allowed to even have the cameras with us. Thats why we rented the locker. Our guide was Sean and he was great, however he did not say anything about pictures in the backstage areas until we got to the area by Splash Mountain where the afternoon parade starts. Before we went backstage, he made us raise our right hands and do a little pledge that we would not take pictures, so help us Walt Disney. He also said that we would get different answers to questions depending upon where we asked the question. We got the magical answer while onstage, and the technical answer when we asked backstage. We got to ride three rides, Jungleboat Cruise, POTC, and HM. It was a wonderful tour and it lasted about 5 1/2 hours from 9 til 2:30.

:cool1: :thumbsup2 I cant wait to do this!!!

BF is going to love it...but then he will become the disney know-all in the family-no fair...he didnt even want to go to disney on our first trip!!! and while I almost had to beat him before booking the second at least he agreed to go...and I know he is going to love it!!! (does this count as an I told you so???)
