I want to thank everyone who recommended this tour.

Our tour guide was Anne and she was awesome. It definitely gave us a new prospective on the Kingdom. She was pleasant and easy to talk to. She definitely didn;t rush us and gladly answered all of our questions.

Next time i may just do the Animal Safari tour.

(we ended up doing POTC instead ofteh jungle cruise because it was closed)

Thanks! I'm planning on taking this tour in December when I go. Glad you enjoyed it.

I just returned (May 22nd) and did three tours--KTTK, Backstage Safari, and Around the World on a Segway. I made all three of the tours at 8:30am, so I could use the character buses and enter the parks early (except the Segway--I walked from BWV). All were great.

On the KTTK there was only seven in our group and we had Cory as a tour guide. He was great. He said the first tour of the morning usually has the fewest people in it and so he enjoys it more. He told us the tour would be 4-5 hours, depending on how many questions we asked and how long we wanted it. We had a 16y/o on it who was a big Disney buff and they (she and Cory) had a ball trying to stump each other with trivia throughout the tour. It was alot of fun and lasted 5 1/2 hours. Cory really loved his job and it showed. He showed us hidden Mickeys, a hidden Donald, and a hidden Walt. He talked to us a long time about Tinkerbell and her flight and let us spend alot of time in Utilidors. He showed us small things like how they make the transitions in archeticture between the lands, backstage and on stage protocols for the characters/CMs, how they hide speakers and cameras, even how the CMs make requests for extra shifts, their dress codes, and how they can move up in the company. He talked about how even off duty that Airel has to avoid tan lines and Cinderella and Snow White must avoid tans at all. We met quite a few characters backstage and got to interact with them. We did Pirates as well as the Haunted Mansion, with Cory telling us about each ride before we rode it. After the Haunted Mansion, he even showed us where Madam Leota threw Cece's engagement ring. He was a great admirer of Roy Disney and told us alot about him, as well as Walt. Did you know that Walt, Roy, Lillian , and even Roy's wife all died in the month of December? Another interesting little tidbit is that he said alot of CMs have been with the company since they opened WDW and the ones with the longest tenure seem to be in the laundry dept. He was constantly throwing disney trivia questions at us. Anyway Cory has been with WDW since he was in college and was an excellent tour guide for the KTTK. He told us before the tour that if we asked any questions ' on stage' that was inappropriate for kids' ears that he would give us 'a bit of fluff' for an answer then answer it with the truth when we were 'backstage'. He did just that, so we had to time our questions.

I am taking an 8:30 AM tour in July.It sounds wonderful.Do you wear wireless earpieces in order to hear the guide? Thanks. :earsboy:

We did, but with there being just seven of us, we didn't really need them.
What was strange about the earpieces was how they amplified all the voices that were around us.

We really want to try this tour sometime - I will either have to wait for the kids to get older or get a babysitter and do it.

Do they allow babies in slings to come along on the tour, or no? I understand if the answer is no...just curious. We have an infant and waiting 16 years to do this tour is going to be hard! :rotfl2:

So you go on and on about one tour...I wanna know more...How were the other two???!!! I'm dying here! :bounce:

My DH and I just returned Sat. night and we did this tour on Wed. 25th @ 8:30. Cory was our guide and he was great! Just like aubriee said, he told us a lot. He was very informative and very nice. He loves his job and he told us that he is in the works of getting a management job at one of the resorts.....he really wants that. I recommend this tour to everyone. It was a lot of fun and very interesting. We had a blast.

Sorry! I didn't mean to 'go on and on', but this thread was about the KTTK tour and I just wanted to say I too really enjoyed it. As far as the other two tours I took, I enjoyed them also.

On the Backstage Safari tour we got to pet a black rhino and a spiny lizard, which was interesting, as well as touring the backstage areas (holding pens, vet hospital/lab, food preparation area, etc) and getting our own personal safari with some really good closeups of the animals. I probably wouldn't repeat that tour however.

The Segway was also alot of fun. There was some info given about World Showcase, but the focus of the tour was about riding the Segway. I plan to repeat this tour when I go back in September with my son and D-I-L.

Again sorry if I went on and on. But from what I've read, KTTK is only as good as your guide and I wanted to point out that if your lucky enough to get Cory and if you choose the early 8:30 tour (which is usually smaller), then you should have a good tour. In our case, because we had two Disney buffs (Cory and the 16 y/o) who were constantly trying to stump each other, we learned alot of Disney trivia. Everyone on the tour was asking questions, which made the tour more interesting.

We loved KTTK - I could easily do that again. We went to the 9:30 Tour & had Matthew, who was also wonderful. He was a very loyal & devoted Disney employee & his excitement & knowledge about his job made the Tour that much better. Our group was all Disneyphiles with lots of questions. I highly recommend KTTK.

Thanks! I really wanted to know how the other two compared. I had only been on the KTTK. What I was asking for is you to go on and on about the other two...My Mom and DH are really looking forward to the Segway tour now!

Just curious, do you recommend the safari tour at least once? Or is it a fluff tour?

I just started collecting pins and I came across a "Keys to the Kingdom" pin on eBay. Do they give you a pin for completing the tour or at least give you an opportunity to buy one? I plan on taking the tour on one of my next trips. It sounds like a great Disney learning experience. Thanks :earsboy:

Yes, each person that takes the tour gets one of the "Key" pins. We did the tour about a year ago and it was definately a great tour to take.
