I would like to try this tour on our trip in July and I have a few questions...
- How much does this cost. We will have AP's and DC on this trip
- How far in advance do we need to book this
- What is the best time to do this tour
- Is lunch included in the price?

Thanks in advance for the help!

We did this 2 years ago. You must be 16 or older and have a Pic ID. The cost was $58 per person and you can get an AP 15% disc.

We booked a few days before (it was a last minute thing). We did the morning (9:30) and it does include lunch (Columbia Harbor House). Have fun, we did. :jester:

check deb's site for some comments Keys to the Kingdom Tour

When we went in January, they had 3 times - 8:30, 9:00 or 9:30. They limit each group to 20 people. The lunch was surprizingly good & was included in the cost. Be prepared, the tour is VERY long, 5 hrs. Lots of standing, be sure you are up for that. I'm not sure what the cancellation policy is, they took a credit card number when I made the reservation & charged me right away.
Keep in mind also that July in Central FL is HOT! A lot of this tour is outdoors. I remember thinking that I was glad it was cool when I went.

I did the tour in March (beginning) of 2002. The prices sound about right. I made the reservation the day before. I was in Disney Studios Park and called and was able to make reservations for 9:00 the next morning. Bear in mind that it wasn't the busy season when I did this.

My mother and I did this tour in February and loved it. Our tour guide, Robin, was excellent. Lots of walking, but it was cool in February. The lunch was at Columbia Harbor House and was tasty enough. We had the AP discount (cost us $49.30 each) and did the 9 o'clock tour. One really fun thing was to be able to walk in to the park before it opened. Except for some CM's and a few early breakfast goers, we had Main Street all to ourselves. Great time for shooting photos and videos. I'd do this tour again someday.

That is - being on Main Street before the tour was a great time for photos and videos. You are very limited on what you can film on the tour. She emphasized that you could only take pictures of what you could take pictures of if you were by yourself and not on a tour. We took none during the tour.

This is a fun tour.... one of the highlights of our Christmas trip to WDW......I hope you get a funny CM to conduct the tour, it makes all the difference in the world.... and to see those utilidors, we have always heard about them.. but to see them.. that was cool..

We took the tour just last month. It was unusually warm for March, and they had bottles of water for everyone that was going on the tour. They were most welcome!

My DD and her friend (both 17) said this was their favorite part of the trip!

I love this tour and you learn soooo much. It's really cool, we're going again in May and can't wait :) I thoroughly recommend.

We have never done the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, but last December I did go to the Magic behind the Steam trains tour. It was pretty cool as they take you into the park before opening (about an hour) they take you to the main street station where you board the train and it is back to the shops to see how they maintain these engines and cars. The cover all of the safety rules that they must follow for a narrow gauge train operation. Then they load you back up and take you back around to the main street station for the first run of the morning.

They have volunteers to do things like throw switches and for being conductor for the tour.

It was pretty cool and a must do for anyone that is a train fanatic. The cost was $25 with the DVC discount that I got. I can't remember what the actual cost was.

I'd like to do this tour as part of my Christmas trip. When would I have to book my place? Could I wait until I arrive on Dec 24th? I'll be in the world for a week.

Miss Mickey Mania -

I'm not sure how early you can book it, but I wouldn't wait until the last minute. Since that is a very busy time of year, you should probably reserve your spot as soon as you decide what day you want to do it. I think we booked our Feb. tour a month or so in advance. I believe the phone number to book is
407-WDW-TOUR.

Anyone know if one of the timeslots tends to be a larger or smaller group? I will be going in July.

Thanks
Sandy
