So we have not been on a DCL cruise since early 2018. We are doing an Alaska cruise soon and received an email saying our Online Check-in information had been reviewed and verified. I was surprised and concerned about the statement that "Key to the Word card will be waiting for your outside your stateroom". How is this done? How is the key card, which my credit card information is linked to, kept safe until we retrieve the cards?

I understand that procedures have changed since our last cruise but can anyone share how this is works?

Looking forward to our return to cruising. Thanks much in advance for any insight, advice, etc. on the new procedures.

It is in a sealed wallet until you get to your door. Everytime your card is scanned, your picture comes up so no need to worry about someone else using it 😊

Your credit card information isn't linked to the card, it's your room number information (being your number, and maybe whatever string of 1s and 0s that may be connected to talk to all the ships' POS systems about your particular room to be able to charge to the room). I was on Royal a few times in 2022 and 2023, and that's how they do it too.

Yup. P&O are the same with them outside your door 😀

Thanks much! I assumed it would be in a sealed envelope of some sort. Guess I have had too many conversations regarding credit card information being scanned/scammed.

That's ok. As Disnsyncey said, your credit card info isn't stored on there either. Things get charged to your room account and then when it hits a certain amount or number of days, it charges the card on file with Disney.
