Key West Dress Code

DH and I will be sneaking down to Key West April 1-3 while the kids stay with my parents in Delray Beach.

Usually DH and I go to South Beach, and I am completely familiar and well versed on how to dress for the night life there, however, after stopping in Key West last summer on our cruise, we decided we wanted to go to go there instead.

I'm thinking that its not as "fancy" at night as Miami Beach is, right? I'm a 45 year old mom, who dresses age appropriate, but am baffled at what to wear for nice dinners and hitting Duval Street. Can anyone help?

Key West tends to be very casual.

For dinners, I tended to wear cropped pants, sandals, shirt, maybe a lightweight sweater or jacket if the weather is still chilly there.

Thanks jodifla. Would the night time dress be similiar to something I'd wear to YSH for dinner, like smart casual? Country club casual?

I know there are much more important things in the world, but after I figure out these outfits, I can focus on them.

I would go tot he side of not country club casual...more like Jimmy Buffett casual, lol....seriously, comfy and colorful works! Have a great time

I know there are much more important things in the world, but after I figure out these outfits, I can focus on them.

IMO, even smart casual and country club casual are too dressy for Key West. It's VERY casual, although you'll see a little of everything.

Key West has a COMPLETELY different "vibe" from SoBe. They could practically be on different planets.

Seriously, listen to everyone...EXTREMELY casual in Key West. Don't bother packing those smart little fashionable sundresses and strappy sandals. Well, you COULD, but you'll be the only wearing them. Flip flops and shorts are fine most of the time.

Yes, this is definitely the one time where you can not listen to Mother and not have to pay for it later.

Oh so jealous, LOVE LOVE LOVE Key West. It's very casual and all people of all classes, walks of life, etc., etc., etc., mix together in one big great party. Love it there, it's so laid back and cool, and like no other place. Have fun.
