We aren't renting a car for the 7 day western leaving this sat....we are taking the disney bus. That means we can't hit a liquor store at the port. Does anyone know if you can buy alcohol on Key West and drink it on the ship? Thanks, Dani::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I am not from Key West but have family there.. well after this storm I hope to have family there. Well they live there and they have a grocery stores and liquor stores there as well. If you want the liquor during the cruise.. pack it in a bag and don't tell them when you check back in.. They can see it in the scanner, but you should be alright..

You know this is just a random thought on the matter... I have been on 15 cruises now and not once have I had my liquor taken away... seems like they are hit or miss on that one. When we buy it in the store on board the ship they hold it for us but when we buy it in port they never take mine (and I make no effort to hide it).

I guess what I am saying is that we bought liquor in Key West (we went to http://www.thekeywestwinery.com/ )and bought 4 bottles of wine which we carried right back on the ship no questions asked and into our room...Maybe, with Key West anyway, it is because you paid the taxes on it and would not need to claim it for duty free...

We were in Key West on the DCL western cruise on 7/18/04. I bought a 12 pack of Coors Light to bring back on the ship. There were no questions at all asked. Very easy and saved a few $$.

You can definitely bring onboard and drink onboard any alcohol bought in Key West. It's only the liquor subject to Duty that has restrictions. That's why any bought in the ship's store is held till the end of cruise. Key West being part of the US follows the same rules as any you bring onboard initially, just a few - no ice, and if it's wine, it should be in a generic bag. The only thing I've heard them stopping wine for if it's brought onboard in a special carrier from the vineyard with a big obvious logo.

Foreign ports are handled differently, and I have no experience to be able to tell you in any detail other than there are restrictions.

Can you buy beer (in a store) on Sundays in Key West?

Can't where I'm from...

Yep, you can buy beer on Sunday's in Florida!! We found that out when we arrived at Vero Beach on a Sunday last July. The lady I asked at the grocery store (Publix) looked at me like I was nuts for asking. I felt like I was breaking the law!

I believe blue laws are on a city by city basis in Florida. ie - you cannot buy alcohol within the Orlando city limits on Sunday
