I know this is used as a room key and you can charge things to your room from parks and dd, but I was wondering if you got this as soon as you check in, and if you need to leave a deposit or credit inprint or anything? Do you have to have a kttw card?

You do get it when you check in because, as you have said, it is your room key and can have your park tickets on it as well, but you can only use it for charging things to your room if you have left credit card details. So in effect you will always have a 'KTTW' card but might not have all the benefits, if that makes sense.

Oh that's good then. So I can just have it for my room key and not need to leave an imprint if I don't want?

Can you still get items delivered to the room from the parks if you don't charge things to the card?

Just tell them you don't need/want charging rights and you won't need to leave an imprint. :)

Yes you can have items sent back to the resort if they are not charged to your room. They don't actually deliver them to the room, you pick them up from the gift shop at the resort.

David, the only thing I would like to add to your answer is that I believe that they will not do deliveries on the last 2 days of your holiday, as they want to make sure that you get everything before you leave. In 2006 we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and purchases made on a say Monday arrived on the Tuesday at tea time.

Yes that's true, thanks for adding. :thumbsup2

Another quick question...

How do you get your tickets on your kttw card? Do you have to have bought your tickets via Disney, or when you booked your holiday? I have my tickets through ATD. Can I still get them onto my card? How does that work? Do you just show your card upon park entrry?

Ok, more than one queastion! lol

i leave cash and not an imprint when we go out there.

Just ask them at check in to put the tickets on the card or the concierge can do it

Check-in won't do it if you have bought your tickets elsewhere but concierge sometimes will. We were told at Animal Kingdom Lodge in April that they wouldn't put our tickets on our KTTW card because if they stopped working they wouldn't be able to replace them, although others HAVE had them put on.

Once your tickets are on your KTTW you use it exactly like you would a ticket - you put it through the turnstiles at the entrance and through the FastPass machines to get Fastpasses. In fact it is better if you can use your KTTW because that is plastic and more durable than the paper park tickets.

Ok, daft question, but what exactly is a concierge? lol

Posh way of saying "somebody who can do things for you". Most tourist hotels have a concierge desk for general guests where they will give you advice on park hours, make dinner reservations for you etc. The concierge desk at Disney hotels is normally at the end of the check-in desk.

This is different to staying in a concierge level room where you would also get access to the concierge lounge where they lay on free food and drink etc.

So I should check in, then go to the concierge desk to ask to put the tickets on the card?

One thing to note if that if you charge things to your KTTW card there is a limit that DISNEY put on it.

As i found out last October. 6 of us went to AKL for 2 weeks and all had charging on our cards. But the limit was only $1500. (it goes on bookings not rooms, so even with 2 rooms our limit did not go up)

It does say it in the "Small Print" but they do not point it out to you.

As as you can imagine this limit was hit very quickly, and i ended up having an big arguement in the middle of DHS when my card would not work for a $15 food purchase. I think it was more embrassing for the disney staff than me.:thumbsup2

So on my return to AKL i paid it off in full and started over again. The sad thing was i could not increase this limit or even "prepay" an amount on account. So it meant every so often i had to clear the account. But aleast i was then aware of the limit.
