Hi my fellow DISers, I am starting to plan our adult only trip for our anniversary for September and am looking at things to do. I stumbled across the Keys to the Kingdom Tour and was hoping someone could give some insight on what is involved with the tour, price & if it is something for adults. We have only gone with our DD to DW so not to sure what to plan for an adult only visit. Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. TIA. :)

I might try to persuade DW to take this on our next trip.

This is something I really want to do on our next trip in April. I'm just concerned about how long it is vs. 5 hrs in the parks.

I did this tour in August, and it was the highlight of my trip! Our guide was fantastic, lunch at Columbia Harbour House was great, and everything about the tour was amazing. I highly recommend it!

I did this tour in October solo. I met some really nice people. My husband needed to stay back at the hotel and do homework. I really enjoyed it!! I love Disney history. We have annual passes so there was a discount on the ticket. I booked it about 3 weeks in advance. We had two tour guides and both were fantastic. The utilidors were ok not my favorite part. I really liked going behind Splash Mountain and seeing the warehouse and the buildings that hold Splash and POTC. Also to see the parade floats was so cool. It is SO loud back there but you can't hear it out in the park. When we were back there and they were practicing for a parade. I can't wait to go on another tour.

Have taken this tour several times, always great, and somewhat different each time.

Don't forget the discounts...AAA (sometimes), AP, DVC (15%); Disney Visa (20%).

While I think it is worth it in its own right, you get to go on one or two rides and if you throw in lunch it minimizes the "lost park time". Also I went on the early tour (if there is more than one) and was in the park before rope drop.

Do you book it at 180 days like ADR's? I have decided we will be doing the tour & want to make sure we book it as soon as possible.

I've just booked this for our February trip - and was just wondering does anyone know how many people are on each tour?

I've done it a few times. The first time I did it on my own. Second time with my family. There were about 15 or so on each tour. The first one I did was at 8:30 if I remember correctly, maybe earlier. It did take about 5 hrs. But I've been to WDW so many times it wasn't a big deal to give up the time. Same with the time I did it with the family.
It's a great tour....one I heartily recommend to people. It is time consuming though.

From what I've read, the max is 20 per tour.

I'm going to call and see if there's availability. I'm thinking about booking the 9 am tour but arriving around 8:30 to get in pre-rope drop to do a quick bit of roaming :)

We did the tour in October and loved it!! Really interesting and we got to see a lot of cool thing. It was very tiring though and a lot of walking!

I have done this tour 3 times and each time I learned something new. Each guide is different. Would definitely do it again.

I did the tour with my Mom and a friend of hers last Sept and we really enjoyed it!! I feel like it is well worth the price, and was a wonderful experience!

The tour consisted of a lot of history of the parks, how wow came to be, how Walt/Roy managed to create it all and the magic that helps it come along. You get to go on some of the attractions and learn more detailing about them, and of course, get to visit the utilidoors and the parade float area backstage by Splash! And there's a lunch of CHH included as well!

It really was an amazing experience for us and I would highly recommend it!

OP - Count me in as saying its great and you will enjoy it. Just a few things that might help you that I haven't seen mentioned in this thread.

No cameras "off stage" but they did allow us to keep ours with us, everyone just followed the rules and didn't attempt to use them when we weren't supposed to.

They take your lunch order when you check in for the tour, so its ready along with a little surprise when the group gets to the CHH.

You will be supplied with little headsets to use to hear the tour guide, don't hesitate to let him/her know if its not working right, they will fix the situation, I have read reviews were someone complained about not hearing the guide due to dead batteries, they should have spoken up and not been mad about the tour.

We stopped a few times in out of the way places when on stage so that the guide could talk "secrets" without others hearing, they are very careful with that esp when kids are around so the magic isn't spoiled.

We rode on the Jungle Cruise (always subject to change I am sure) and HM, we had a boat to ourselves on the JC, again to preserve the magic, we entered the HM through an alternate entrance, went through the normal line (moving walkway) to get to the doom buggies and met up again after the ride.

Its been a few years since I did this particular tour so hopefully others can give you a little more up to date info. Enjoy the tour, its fun!
