I'm thrilled that Kevin and John enjoyed Citricos so much. We ate there on our last trip in January 07 (our first trip to WDW as adults) and absolutely loved it. Our waiter, Bruce, was excellent and very personable, and the food was terrific. In fact, out of the 5 dinners we had on our trip (the others at Kona Cafe, Le Cellier, California Grill, and Boma), Citricos is the only restaurant that we have definite plans to return to.

I actually didn't care much for the arancini, but it was the only part of the meal we didn't love. My wife, who was pregnant at the time, didn't have much of an appetite for our whole trip, but she said her roast chicken was the best chicken she'd ever had. I had ribeye with creme brulee for desert, both of which were great. And yes, I was surprised at how good the coffee was; I'd never had coffee from a French press. I agree with Kevin that the restaurant isn't overly stuffy or fussy, but still very beautiful.

Great review, Kevin. I'm glad to hear they're keeping the level of quality up.

i'm so happy to read this post...
i haven't heard the show yet (i just came online to check if it was up yet)..
i had suggested that Kevin try citricos (from what i understand, there were many who suggested citricos to Kevin)..
anyway, when i heard on the podcast last week that they'd eaten at citricos i started to worry that maybe Kevin hadn't liked it...
we love citricos so much, i would have been upset if Kevin hadn't had a good experience there..

DD and I ate there in November (2007).....
i had the wild striped sea bass....it was without question, the best fish i have ever had anywhere....i don't recall how it was prepared (sorry, i'm not very knowledgeable about such things), but it was just this side of heavenly....DD tried it and agreed (after her eyes rolled back in her head)..

for dessert, DD had the creme brulee....also the best i've ever tasted......
i had some sort of death by chocolate dessert that was also wonderful..
and yes, i had the coffee as well....the only good cup of coffee i have ever had anywhere in WDW....(i live on the wrong side of the ocean where good coffee is the norm, so i tend to be pretty picky about it when i'm in the states)...

as for the service - i can't remember the waiter's name...something like guiermo or something....he was italian.....it was the most perfect service i've ever experienced....and we've eaten at some of the finest restaurants around the world....our server was perfect....he always seemed to anticipate our every need.....he didn't hover ....you never saw him, but he miraculously appeared just as we were about to think we needed something..
i don't know how to explain that...but it was incredible....
we were simply blown away by the level of service...

i even stopped the manager who walked by...she stopped and asked if everything was ok....i told her i just wanted to say how outstanding everything was...the food and service....
she smiled and said that was their goal....

anyway...i can't possibly put into words what a perfectly lovely meal we had there....

now i'm off to download this weeks podcast...
normally i listen when i'm on the elliptical trainer...but i've been under the weather, so i'll take my ipod back up to bed and be lulled to sleep by all the hysterical laughing of the podcast team..

thanks for posting this thread....i would have been worried throughout the show waiting for Kevin's review...:goodvibes

I'm also extremely pleased to hear you enjoyed Citricos Kevin! We ate there on our last trip in Aug of 07 and loved it. It was our favorite meal of the trip, which is high praise as we were able to visit several of the signature restaurants that week. We also made a point to make ADRs there again for our trip in October. The food was amazing (I had the arancini too! yum!) and the ambiance of the restaurant was both comfortable and elegant. We found that the service had really nice pacing even though we didn't make a point to direct our server the way you and John did. It was neither too rushed or too drawn out. It was just a really great experience. I'm surprised it doesn't get talked about more often than it does! It's definitely one of the best restaurants on property. There may not be any Disney theming or special views, but it's a fantastic dining experience. It's a place I could imagine frequenting if it were here at home, even if they didn't lower the prices down from their "Disney" level.

(and I agree with you on the Grand Floridian being fussy! You walk in and wonder if you should be mindful not to touch anything!)

I, too, thought it was an excellent review....but I think ALL of Kevin's reviews are excellent! :thumbsup2
