Kevin's Boma re-review

Just a quick note from another Boma loving family. I guess the atmosphere really helps, AKL is one of our favorite places to stay, and visit. We also thoroughly enjoy Boma because the food IS so different. That even goes for our 2 kids. (both under 10). Our daughter LOVES sampling just about everything on the buffet, and our son, almost 3, seems to thoroughly enjoy pretty much anything we put in front of him. :lmao:

Cost wise, yes, I would have to agree it is a bit overpriced, but, we always get the dining plan, so it really doesn't matter. It's a sure fire visit for us each and every trip to WDW. :)

This is what makes the world go round.

We had dinner at Jiko last night and I wouldnt trade that for 20 dinners at Boma.

Good thing we all have different likes and dislikes.

It would make getting an ADR very difficult is everyone loved the same place.

Except for Shudders......

i've never eaten at Jiko - i'm sure i would enjoy it....but the dining plan is the deal breaker for me....i'm not willing to use 2 TS credits on any meal...
but maybe we should try jiko out of pocket...
there is no way i would spend $40/person out of pocket for the six of us to eat dinner at boma.....no matter how good it is, it's still a huge, noisy room with a buffet...
whereas, the $40 that my vegetarian meal would probably cost at jikos would be worth it to me...for the quality of the food and the service and the elegance (hopefully it's elegant)...etc etc
one thing i'm sure of, even without eating there -i bet jiko is a LOT quieter than boma...

but that dining plan changes my choices...
when DD and i were there together two years ago we paid for everything out of pocket and went to very few buffets (just two for the characters)....instead we went to several signature restaurants (citricos being our favorite at that time)...

How much approximately is Jiko per person verses Boma per person. For those on the dining plan, the cost is double, but I'm assuming it's not for cash paying customers. To me that's the main reason some don't go to the signature dinners.

Entrees at Jiko range from about $26 to about $40.

Jiko is my favorite restaurant on property followed by California Grill. Though they are located only steps apart, Jiko and Boma are almost complete opposites. The atmosphere at Jiko is calm and relaxing, service is always stellar and the food is out of this world.

Jiko is undoubtedly worth the splurge.

Dinner for two of us (consisting of two apps, two entrees, a shared dessert and a soft drink) was $109.00 using the TIW card.

This price was after a 20% discount but then it included an 18% gratuity.

Our meal (and the company) was incredible. Without asking, we were seated in the private wine room. We arrived at approximately 7pm amd left shortly after 10pm. The service was just as good as the food.

There were 3 adults...one using the dining plan, so his meal was not figured into the total.

The experiences at Boma and Jiko are like night and day.
