Ketchup, Please. DLR condiments and toppings

What kind of pickles?

I love pickle relish, crave the stuff. I eat mainly dill pickles on sandwiches and bread & butter pickles with our dinner. I wonder if anyone is a pickle connoisseur, lol. We use Fannings bread and butter pickles but do not really care what brand of dill that we get.

DILL all the way baby!!!!! I hate sweet and bread and butter pickles. They are gross. My Mom used to make pickles, I loved those things but they are so much work and she hasn't done it in years now. My favorite brand is a Costco brand. LOL They are little tiny pickles and so super good.

Yes, I used to believe salads must have Ranch too but that was before I was introduced to Marie's poppy seed dressing. It's in the produce section (refrigerated) not the regular salad dressing aisle. I love that stuff. Someone brought us dinner one time when DS was in the hospital and they brought that dressing for the salad and I've been hooked ever sense. It almost has sort of a honey mustard type flavor to it. I still like ranch too though. :)

I agree that mustard most definately goes on corn dogs and soft pretzles.

And being the good big sister that you are, you introduced me many years ago (in our youth) to dipping french fries in chocolate milk shakes and that is so yummy. I still do it when I get a chance but like you don't order shakes very often anymore.

My DD21 loves to eat her fries in a Wendy's Frosty, now my DD12 does that too. LOL I think it's gross but I'll dip my fries in BBQ & Ranch anyday. I love Marie's dressings, they are the BEST! I usually make my own dressings but if I'm buying it's usually a Newman's Own or Marie's. :)

And I"m with you on the mustard, I'm not really a big fan of it but I love it with pretzels & corny dogs. Altho the cheese sauce at DL is amazing with the pretzels too. lol :)

Wht do you like on potatos?

Mashed potatos are plain or a bit of butter.
Baked potato should not be rubbed in salt and should have butter, bacon, cheese and chives. I love a plain baked potato with butter, salt and pepper but there is nothing like a loaded baked potato.

I love Brianna's poppy seed dressings and they are gluten free.

I lived in Idaho for a long time, taters are a staple. I can eat taters by themselves as a meal. lol I LOVE my taters topped with many things, mashed I love them with butter and garlic or even popcorn cheese. You know, the stuff you buy to sprinkle on your popcorn, it's good on mashers. :) I like sour cream, cheese & bacon on both mashed and baked potatoes, I love to have salsa, sour cream and cheese on baked taters and I love cubed taters, bake them with 1/3 c. of olive oil, sliced onions, mushroom, bell peppers and a packet of onion soup mix. Soooooooo good!!!!! I also like to slice and pan fry them, with whatever spices sound good at the time. :) Hashbrowns w/salsa, cheese & sour cream....YUM!!!! I've even done Ranch on mashers or on a baker.

I can't think of anything too specific about eating at DLR....I do know that I like the cheese sauce that comes with the Mickey-shaped soft pretzels, that was yummy......Everything else we ate came with your basics. I am usually not TOO particular....

However, in the "real" world, I do have some likes and dislikes. Laurie, I did the ketchup and ice cream thing when I was a kid, too - just for the shock factor, I didn't really eat it. But my parents swore I put it on everything. To my recollection, I only used it when meats were involved - including our Thanksgiving turkey and Christmas ham! This is no longer the case. The only time I grab for the ketchup bottle these days is for French fries or tater tots. I also like to branch out with my dipping sauce choices - I will use ranch dressing, yellow mustard, honey mustard, salsa, cocktail sauce (okay, so that's just a glorified ketchup :rotfl:) BBQ sauce, chipotle sauce (yum!) and I'll pretty much try anything else once.....

On baked potatoes, I enjoy sour cream OR ranch dressing OR salsa OR chili...... On tacos I love Taco Bell taco sauce which is a bummer because we don't live anywhere near one so the packets are like gold to me...... On hot dogs I love French's yellow mustard and sweet pickle relish. In high school my girlfriends and I would order a large basket of fries and a large sundae, and we would dip the fries in the ice cream! Yup. Now THAT was living on the edge....:thumbsup2

DBFs Uncle T eats ketchup with everything. I think it's gross but every meal we have, no matter what it is, he's got ketchup all over it. Let me know if you want some Taco Bell sauce, I'd be happy to send you a box of it!! :) I'm totally serious, all three kinds too. :)

I have also been known to stir a can of chili beans and shredded cheese into our mac and cheese.....because you KNOW it isn't fattening enough to start with! :lmao:

Our local supermarkets quit carrying Taco Bell stuff, although I did buy a bottle of the taco sauce out in the valley at a WinCo. It wasn't exactly the same - much thicker and less tangy than the packets. It was fine, but it wasn't what my tongue REALLY wanted, you know....???

I've added all kinds of things to mac n cheese, my kids hate it tho so I stopped. Chili, hot dogs, salsa, so many things......lol I'm serious about the sauce...LOL

lol I'm serious about the sauce...LOL

Pixiewings, do you have some sort of Taco Bell inside connection?? That is almost as awesome as having a Disney connection! OMG, what if they ever opened a Taco Bell AT Disney!?! I seriously would curl up and die from ecstasy.....

I'm sorry, what was I saying???......:lmao:

Unless it has been taken out, the last time I was in Catalina, they had a small KFC/Taco Bell shop!!! I guess Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut are all owned by the same company, and KFC/Taco Bell were the first (and only, I think) fast food franchise to infiltrate Avalon/Catalina. The Avalon officials had previously vowed to never let any of the big fast food chains on their island because it would take business away from all the great local mom and pop restaurants and stands, and there was too much red tape to cut through. I thought they should have kept it that way - local food only. But, sure enough, the miniature KFC/Taco Bell location was put in sometime in the late '90s, and seemed to be very popular. And then a Coldstone Creamery worked its way over there as well. And a tiny Vons (Safeway) became the town supermarket. Keep in mind - because Avalon is a small town, they have like 'one' of everything except restaurants and hotels - one bank, one library, one hospital, one school, etc. It is a very communal, laid back, family type of town. SO the fact that any franchises got on to the island is a big deal because they don't have a lot of room for additions and development over there!

So Kerri - if you ever make it over to Catalina, hopefully the tiny Taco Bell will still be there for you!

lol I'm serious about the sauce...LOL

No, no connections but our Taco Bell gives out a TON of sauce packets. LOL I keep what I don't use in my car and use it next time so I have a ton of packets just hanging out in the door of the car. LOL I like the TB sauce too, that and Del Taco have the best sauces out there! lol

Well if you ever get so many that you consider throwing them out, DON'T!! I will give them a nice home with plenty of room to frolic and play in our spice cupboard.....;) I used to live near a Del Taco when I was in California, and yes, they had some good sauces. Brings back lots of college memories when all we had in the cupboard was Ramen noodles, sauce packets, and booze...:lmao:

My Wife has to have Taco Bell Mild Sauce on Everything! We stock up on that sauce!!! Me, its Del Taco Hot Sauce or Franks red hot sauce! Love that on Pasta!

Well at DLR, I have to have Mustard on my French Fries! Onions on Hot Dogs or Hamburgers, Ranch or Blue Cheese on my salads..

Every Trip, Our Family Goes to Taste of Pilots Grill and we have to have a Jalapeno with Tabasco Sauce on it (Just 1 little slice of jalapeno pepper).. That started a couple years ago when my kids were playing around, now we all eat 1 each trip for good luck!! My kids are all in their teens!

Oh you just reminded Parsec, I LOVE hot sauce on my popcorn! LOL Choulula (sp) is the BEST!!!! You just sprinkle some on and YUM!

Val send me your address and I'll see what I've got. I had TB for lunch today, had a chicken burrito and some nachos, they gave me like 10 sauce packets! LOL No way I used them all, they are now in the door pocket in the mini van! lol

Oh popcorn! My favorite snack! I like to put Lawery's (sp?) Seasoned Salt on it. Spicey! :thumbsup2 For my birthday my sister sent me popcorn from a special popcorn store in different flavors. Loved that! We don't have anything like that here.

Sorry, but for me it's Del Taco Mild Taco Sauce. Love it on their soft chicken tacos. I bring the unused packets home and use them on homeade tacos, or , if you can stand this.....ketchup. I know it's strange but when we were kids we didn't have salsa, we used ketchup on my mom's greasy tacos. To this day I love the flavor of the hamburger meat (just a little garlic salt) and the ketchup with the lettuce and cheese. :goodvibes

Speaking of ketchup, my DD9 likes it on a lot of things. Grilled cheese sandwiches and quesadillas are the two most unusual things. She dips it.

At DLR, for me, it's what I don't like on things. When I order the chicken nachos at WWS, I order everything on the side-Guacamole and sour cream on the side (so things don't get too soggy), no jalapenos, no cheese sauce (sorry, I really can't stand the stuff) just cheddar cheese. Then I put it in the provided microwave to melt the cheese. First time I ordered it with cheese on the side I got 3 things of the cheese sauce and one of shredded cheddar. Now I ask for the cheddar on the nachos and all is good!

Kerri, I sent you a PM! Can't have the mini van getting all cluttered, now can we.....:thumbsup2

Ooo, I love hot sauce on my popcorn too.

Speaking of Del Taco hot sauce, I think I'll have that for lunch....

Oh and someone else said this, but yeah, I'm a sauce/dip kind of person too! :)

It is a running joke about me and ketchup that started when I was a kid. Once to shock my dad I put ketchup on ice cream. I do not like ketchup very much and it is to acidic and sweet. Not an allergy craving or sensory thing so I cannot figure out why I use so much ketchup.

My questions for this food thread.

Is there a condiment like Ketchup that you use a lot of?
Do you only use one brand?
Mustard....... always on a sandwich and alsways on a hot dog, burger etc.
Condiments, toppings and other additions to food

At DLR what do you put on your food? Do you have to have a hot dog done a certain way for example? Do you like fries with cheese or have to have them plain?

Always ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions and lettuce on a burger, same on a hot dog minus the lettuce.
What stuff do you like to put on food? Are you into hot sauce, tabasco sauce, cheese, special mustards or maybe it is ketchup.
cheese ))))))))) on a lot of things, including my fries.

I love french fries dipped in barbecue sauce. Hot dogs should have onions, mustard and relish. Steak is plain or A-1 sauce. Mom loves honey on fried chicken. The best sundae is the Matterhorn or a banana split.

A-1 on steak, or heinz 57 sauce... have not had a sundae or banana split in years.

Oh crud, double post. :(
For that you are off to the time out Corner. At disabilities board the time out Corner is Coke Corner of course. Come and have a hot dog and a cherry coke.

Does anyone mix soda pops or slurpee flavors? I lvoe to mix slurpees together but have never tried the tink twist at DLR as it is way too sour for me.

Hot dogs have to have yellow mustard and onions. DLR only serves fresh onions in Taste Pilots Grill and a few sit down restaurants. I am so contemplating going back to DLR for lunch but I swore not more old restaurants until I had tried them all.

I love anything barbecued. Mexican beans should be mixed with rice of course. I am not much of a rice pilaf person.

Does anyone have pancake, waffles and crepe quirks? I love strawberrys, whipped cream on waffles but plain with lots of butter and real maple syrup is the best.

I love popcorn too, I buy it just for me. lol I'll have it for dinner sometimes if I'm eating late. :) I like to melt butter and pour that over it and add something, either hot sauce (which DBF hates so I rarely do that anymore) or cheese flavoring. I have a white cheddar flavor right now but my absolute fave is cheese from Kraft mac n cheese, just open the box and use the pasta for whatever and save the cheese for my popcorn. lol LOVE that!!!!! My Mom used to put a little garlic salt on popcorn so I like that a lot too.

Watch for something from me in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to beef up my supply for you first! :lmao: Just call me the Taco Bell Sauce Dealer. :rotfl2:

I had a hot dog last night, no mustard but I did have ketchup with it. :) I like to mix slurpees and the kids and DBF all mix their sodas. I rarely have a slurpee tho, I do want to have a Tinkerbell Twist tho, I think I'd like one of those! :)

I have it for dinner sometimes too! :thumbsup2 And using the Mac N Cheese cheese powder on it? Pour genius! Another recipe for our new Mommy's Mac N Cheese Cookbook! :rotfl:

As for breakfast- I'm not too much into breakfast food but like it sometimes. My most favorite of all would be chocolate chip pancakes with chocolate syrup and whip cream on top! :goodvibes Ok, I guess that's not so much breakfast as it is dessert. :rotfl: Same with waffles!

Kerri--the Tinkerbell Twist is an acquired taste. The first time I had it I was like "People like this?" then I had a second and now I crave them . . . .

I do like that Kraft cheese powder idea for popcorn! Yup, it is going in the book! "101 things to do with Mac and cheese and/or its components!" LOL!!

My family likes to sprinkle Parmesan cheese on popcorn, OR I started something big when I decided to try the dry ranch dressing mix powder. Now my DS 7 is ADDICTED, he won't eat popcorn any other way......popcorn::
