Ketchup or Maple Syrup?

Don't knock it til you have tried it. We fed it to some friends from England and they loved it, but we wouldn't tell them what was in it until they tried it.

OK. But that is not exactly a rousing endorsement. Of all the wonderful things England is famous for....it's cuisine is not one of them.

I'll say this: It is WAY better than Spam. It is very hard to describe and it can taste different based on what spices are used. It is ALWAYS good, though! I get mine from a local farmer's market when I can. If not, I buy the Hatfield brand. Scrapple was supposedly created in Hatfield, PA.

This is before it gets fried.

This is cut way too thick for us, I like it thin cut and fried with nothing on it. And it can't touch my eggs.

We think of it as the stuff that's not good enough to go in a hot dog.

we love it here....of course I'm from Maryland....but somehow my Mom introduced scrapple to me when I was a kid and she was from North Carolina....I don't know if she found it up here or if somehow living on a farm they use to make their own version maybe.....we would fry it up and serve it with eggs and grits....anyway our joke is that it's "all pig parts except the oink".
