Don't knock it til you have tried it. We fed it to some friends from England and they loved it, but we wouldn't tell them what was in it until they tried it. :rotfl:

OK. But that is not exactly a rousing endorsement. Of all the wonderful things England is famous for....it's cuisine is not one of them.

I never heard of it. From the sound and look of it, I dont think I'll ever try it.

I'll say this: It is WAY better than Spam. It is very hard to describe and it can taste different based on what spices are used. It is ALWAYS good, though! I get mine from a local farmer's market when I can. If not, I buy the Hatfield brand. Scrapple was supposedly created in Hatfield, PA.

From the country that brought us such wonderful culinary delights such as Haggis.

It's rich in heady goodness, I'm sure. :scared: :lmao:

"Scrapple is a savory mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and flour, often buckwheat flour. The mush is formed into a loaf, and slices of the scrapple are then fried before serving. Scraps of meat left over from butchering, too small to be used or sold elsewhere, were made into scrapple to avoid waste. Scrapple is best known as a regional food of Delaware, South Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland."

Mmmm.... mush of pork scraps and trimmings!! Hook me up!

This is before it gets fried.

This is cut way too thick for us, I like it thin cut and fried with nothing on it. And it can't touch my eggs.

We think of it as the stuff that's not good enough to go in a hot dog. :rotfl:

we love it here....of course I'm from Maryland....but somehow my Mom introduced scrapple to me when I was a kid and she was from North Carolina....I don't know if she found it up here or if somehow living on a farm they use to make their own version maybe.....we would fry it up and serve it with eggs and grits....anyway our joke is that it's "all pig parts except the oink".

On your SCRAPPLE? ...... just because I have to have a scrapple thread once a year! :rotfl:
How about bringing me some down here in SoFla. All I can get is frozen and it turns into mush when cooked. I like mine crispy!

Now see, I like mine to touch my eggs. I like to dice up my fried eggs and put a little bite of egg on each bite of scrapple! Yum-mo!

Never had the pleasure of meeting and eating scrapple. I don't see it here in the West Coast grocery stores.

I never thought of putting maple syrup on it!
Then again I have only ever had scrapple once.
My friend ordered it when we were out at a fancy brunch  I guess it wasn't that fancy! Nothing like scrapple and mimosas to start your Sunday!

MmmmmmScrapple! With Maple syrup, fried eggs, italian toast......

I miss Allentown diners.
