Kerry & Esty - 12/7/10- SBP/MVMCP (Rev Issues)

There is NO discount for our day. I was pretty disapointed in that - I thought there would be something as it's early in the season, but nope. Even our friend who is a Cast Member tried to see if she could get us something and there was nada.

Welcome to my random ramblings! I understand about the date nights - we've cut going out to save so our nights are spent on the couch with controllers in hand

The dates for the AP discounts in December and also for CM haven't been released yet. Shouldn't be much longer for them to be released. Not sure if you can get the credit back though:confused3

I just found your thread and I love it! I like the idea of the ole' Ben's signature stamped on your invites. I don't think I'll use for my VR invites but I know a couple of people who would get a big kick out of it for our 4th of July invites! I really like the STDs, you're so creative! Cgrats from a fellow Philly DFTW bride!

Pictures as promised!

The "picture" of us in wedding gear and mickey hats are our xbox avatars again. One of my MOHs found a great picture of the castle and merged the two together (the same who made the picture for the STD). These are from zazzle. We originally went to zazzle for the Disney pins below but due to copyright issues they cancelled the order and we placed this one.

A couple of weeks later, I still wanted the Disney pins so we went to BarrelofMonkeys on Etsy. I can't recommend her enough. She downloaded the font and made edits to the pins for us for no extra charge.

t-shirt.jpg

The logo is a blend of the Gears of War symbol and Disney.

On Sunday, I'm picking up a slip for my dress and eventually my sister and I will be dyeing it blue. As I'm sure this will be a flaming disaster, many pictures will be taken to explain to the insurance company why her house is now blue. :scared1:

Last night I sent a copy of our vows to Rev Kev to make sure everything was in order and to pay the rest of his balance. He (or someone from his team) wrote back that they didn't like part of our vows...basically, the most important line to us "What Gears of War has brought together, let no Locust separate" (yep, the quote on the t-shirt). He felt it looked poor on his as a reverend and didn't look "right."

While our friends are suggesting we drop him and get someone else "it's your day" and "you are paying him", honestly, from what I have read, Rev Kev does a good job and I'm not really interested in researching new people.

We removed the line from the end of our vows and I guess we'll see how that goes. If he finds another issue, I guess I will just have to find someone else.

Aw - sucky!! I would have never though about that! What about having someone do a short reading and including it there?

ugh! thats totally annoying. I would be mad if that happened to us. He is getting paid and its for you guys so whats the big deal? Sorry hun

maybe say that line or have the BM say it as part of your toast/intorduction? sorry for the annoyance... its an age thing me thinks! ;)

Please don't flame me but I think he may feel this line, in a way belittles the original line in the marriage service. He may feel uncomfortable, considering his position within the church, using a line which he may see as a distortion of the original line, which has been used for centuries. I assume you have faith since you are using a religious minister as your officiant, and whilst I understand your frustration at his not being able to approve it, (it obviously means a lot to you), I can also understand his concerns

We actually chose him because we were told from many people that he was not over religious and we aren't religious by any means.

We removed the line but if he has any other issues, we're not going to change our vows anymore to fit a minister. I don't mean to be mean, but it's our day, not his (and the fact that we're paying him).

I understand your point of view. I agree that it is your wedding and you are paying him.
I guess it is difficult for me to understand how a minister can be not overly religious. I thought it was their job to be religious. Perhaps you might be better to have a different officiant. That way you would get the vows you want and he will not have to compromise his belief that he would be wrong to alter that line of the service.

Did you try Rev. Tim Herring? He has non religious ceremonies and is funny and very easy going. He has a website and a facebook page. If you want the links I'll be happy to send them to you. :cutie:

We did but I believe he wasn't available at our time :(

It's a small gripe in the whole package so I'm just going to let it go...just had to have my moment to rant

Well, maybe if you explain to Rev. Kev what it means to you and that "Gears of War" is a game and how it's significant to you & DF. He probably thinks it's something really creepy, LOL! I think it's really cool! Love your whole theme!

Aw! I am sorry, as a gamer myself I totally get what you were going for and would have gotten it.

I hope you can figure things out, if not you can always ask your planner for references to a different officiant and explain what the hiccups was, they see all kinds of ceremonies performed all the time so I am sure they can point you in the right direction.

We are having a rather standard ceremony with self-written vows so I am no help.

The pins look awesome! Sorry you are having issues with the reverend. Have you considered asking someone to get ordained for the ceremony who you are close with? This is what we are doing because I want to do and say excatly what I want. It might be worth looking into, from what I undersatnd it is very easy for someone to get ordained.
