Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis found in contempt, going to jail

The Liberty Council. Don't know whether they're pushing her or she is pulling them.
I read an opinion article that stated that the liberty council is actually raking in quite a bit of money from various people due to this case, it is also making quite a name for itself. The author wondered if that is their motive for some of the bad advice they have given, like disobeying a court order, since it is VERY rare for legal counsel to recommend disobeying a court order.

I think she is one CRAZY insane lady.

If this CRAZY LADY was an officer in a church
I don't understand what makes her crazy and in need of "getting some help". She has her beliefs and is willing to back them up. I can respect that. She is not crazy because of the beliefs she has. What I can't respect is her willingness to continue cashing her paycheck. If she would have said "I disagree with the decision and in good conscience can't hand out marriage licenses, so I'm going to resign" OR "I disagree with the decision and in good conscience can't hand out marriage licenses, so I'm not accepting a paycheck", I would respect her a lot more.

I don't think she's crazy either. I agree with you about her decisions.
I don't see that it's decent or honest to grab a paycheck while refusing to perform the work required.
Her behavior in the workplace appears to be blatantly opportunistic.

Five deputies will issue the marriage licenses now, only one declined, and that was her son...

This is typical Kentucky local politics...nepotism is rampant. Her mother held position for 25+ years. Retires and daughter (Ms. Davis) who had been working there for years as deputy clerk gets appointed. She hires her son to be a deputy clerk and the cycle continues. Hopefully, this will end their reign.

For those who see her as being persecuted for her religious beliefs, I have a question.

An extreme example: Warren Jeffs thought it was well within his religious freedom to marry and have sex with multiple prepubescent girls. That it was his honestly (and bat guano crazy) held interpretation of the Book of Mormon, didn't make it any less illegal.

Simply because you may agree with her personal stance on this issue doesn't mean she isn't violating the law, which is the only reason she was arrested.

I tend to define 'crazy' as a real break with reality.

No question in my mind that if this woman thinks she is going to keep her job, use it as a pulpit for her religious beliefs, as an officer of the government, and get paid for refusing to to the duties required of her....

Whackadoodle.... :joker: :joker: :joker:

Just because her beliefs may be from common and mainstream religious beliefs, considering where she lives... doesn't make her take on them any closer to reality than some cult. ( and, NOTE: this is coming from somebody who is closer to a conservative christian than not)

Her beliefs only apply to her and those who share them. The fact that she is preventing others from marrying because of her beliefs is a violation of their rights. If she felt that strongly she should have respectfully resigned, but instead she made a fuss because she wants attention. It's obvious that her intentions do not stem from spiritual ground they come from her own desperation to be right.

But liberals certainly feel it's fine to FORCE their beliefs on everyone. Hypocrisy at its finest.

First and foremost, you must remember we are a nation run by laws, not religion.

She is an elected government official. It is her duty to uphold the law. She filed her objections and they were overruled by the Supreme Court. If she still wanted to stand by her convictions, that's fine. Simply resign. She didn't -- and that's on her!

No one was forcing her to do anything other than her job. If I refused to do something at work I didn't believe in I could be fired.

Do your job, or resign and find a new one.
