We are planning to go to the Kennedy Space Center for one day during our upcoming trip next month. There will be 4 kids ranging in age from 10-14.

Just wondering to those of you who have been there before, do you have any suggestions on how to plan our day? Any must see/must do's???

TIA for any help you can offer:goodvibes

I've never been, but this is the only way I got dh to agree to our trip next year. He has no interest in WDW, but got excited about 2 days here. I'd like to hear what everyone else has to say.

My sister and her family went two years ago. She said it can easily be done in one day. In addition to the "regular" admission, they did the NASA Up Close Tour. A tour bus takes you out to the launch pads, and close to the building where the shuttles are housed and maintained.

You may want to call ahead and see if what tours are available for the days you're going to be there. Some of the tours close several days advance while they move a shuttle from the housing building to the launch pad.

My plan is for all 5 of us to go one day. Then with the 2nd day free admission, dh and ds will go back to see whatever they want to, and do the lunch with an astronaut. That day, the girls and I will spend in MK doing all princessy stuff that ds will be happy to miss out on!

My family went last trip and my best advice would be to make sure you have plenty of time:)

We got to look around the museums and at the old ships but we never got to see the launch pad. To get to the launch pad you need to get on a bus and the shortest bus tour is one hour. We didnt have enough time to do it and that would have been cool.

I would also suggest going on a tour that gets you the closest to the launch pad. its only 20 mor dollars then regualr admission:thumbsup2

Easily done in a day and was a great excusion. My best tip is to take plenty of Mosquito Cream as my husband and I got really bitten .. and I mean really bitten. It was like a bee swarm everywhere, even on the bus that takes you round! They do have cream for sale in the shop but it is expensive. Go prepared! We went June time.

Thsnks to all who replied. I'm hoping there is enough to keep the kids interested for the day. Any need to arrive early or can we get a slower start to the day & not miss much :confused3

We kept our kids interested for more than a day, but our kids are young, and they don't do long days. The bus tour took a good chunk of time, but was well worth it. They also have an IMAX theatre with two different space themed movies. The Astronaut Launch Experience was great fun, and your kids will love it.

We got there early, but that's because we like to avoid the crowds.

We're in New Smyrna with our 6 and 3-1/2 year old. Will Space Center entertain them or be a waste of money for them? We'll be back again for sure when they're older, so no big deal to me to skip it.
