Would you recommend this for a 5 year old girl and 6 year old boy? If so, would you plan to spend the entire day or part of the day? I checked out the official web site and it looks like there are a variety of ticket prices. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can tell you about our day trip last year. My DH and my grandfather have always wanted to go, so the day we got off the ship we went. My daughter had just turned 6. She thought the IMAX movie wsa very cool, she loved seeing the shuttles suspended above us, (SO HUGE) and going and sitting in a little lem after a short bus ride. There were quite a few parts though that I couldn't even tell you about because I knew she would be bored and they went on without she and I. Overall, she had great things to tell her class and we were glad we went, but I can say that my daughter's attention span is a tad longer than say my 7 year old nephew. I guess it all depends on the child.
I hope I helped a little, LOL. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

We went with a DD 7 and a DS 5. Like Tink, we went right after we got off the ship. It held their attention for the time we were there (they REALLY loved the IMAX Space Station film). The full impact of the experience didn't really hit them until we got back and went through the Columbia tragedy. Their understanding of the space program and its history all came together at that point. The only negative part of the experience was when a thunderstorm hit and my DS freaked out a bit (we don't have lightening like that in SoCal).

Two recommendations:
1) Hit the IMAX first thing (we were told it fills up fast later in the day).

2) Stop by the lobby of a hotel near the port and pick up a discount coupon (they seem to be all over the place!). Discounts were also offered as part of the Orlando Magicard package (http://www.orlandoinfo.com/magicard/).

We just went to KSC with DS's (8yo) Cub Scout den. He really liked the IMAX movie. We were there from 9:30 until about 4:00 and had plenty to do the whole time. DS is really into space so I think that's why he enjoyed it so much. I found some of the exhibits to be a bit cheesy. Don't expect anything like Disney World. I'm not sure a 5 & 6 year old would have as much fun, but you never know, all kids are different. One tip: If you plan on buying something in the gift shop, do it well before closing time. The lines get really long at the register. We had to wait 30 minutes just to cash out.
