kenko extension tubes

would the IS of my 28-135 canon lenswork with these? i thought i had a cheap ebay macro but alas it was for a nikon... so am wondering if these are my best option or if i should buy a phoenix 100mm f3.5 macro ( a number of places said it's not a bad lens for 150, not expecting L glass but really can't afford anymore and the non af tubes are driving me nuts). figure i could always trade up later for what ever i get now.... the tubes are about the same price but if the IS still worked it'd be a no brainer for me since it might not limit me to tripod only...unless of course there is something else i don't know about

It will work but it's no longer going to be optimal because the IS is designed to work at the lens' length. Regardless, for macro work, I highly recommend a tripod.

Never used that particular Phoenix lens but I think you'll get better result with the Canon lens + Kenko extension tubes (I also use Kenko extension tubes and Kenko 1.4x tele converter)

would the exposure work with this also? the biggest problem i am having is that everything is over exposed with the cheap tubes non af tubes. the manual focus isn't that big a deal but the overexposure is ruining every shot

exposure works 100% accurate with these AF extension tubes.

Another option would be to by a close-up lens. It's like a filter that screws onto the end of your lens. Some people prefer tubes because they don't add any more glass, but I prefer close-up lenses because they are much easier to use.

FWIW, I recently bought a full set of decent quality close up lenses on ebay for $12.00 and they've been great.
