Kelly & Devin's 9/22/12 Disney Themed NY Wedding PJ

My Church that I grew up in is where I am lucky enough to get married in.

St. Ann's Church in Sayville is a beautiful stone church with stain glass windows. We start our first pre-marital counseling with my Reverend on July 7th! So nervous because she is new and I don't know her like I did the old Reverend. Hoping it all will go smoothly! :confused3

Here's a picture of the Church:

Here is a picture of the beautiful alter:

The trumpeters we hired are from Royal Brass. They are well known and the outfits they wear tie in perfectly. They will be playing inside and outside of the church. They are amazing!!

I will have two trumpeters at the wedding. One on either side of the church doors and to announce my arrival in the carriage like this:

royalbrass.jpg

Instead of the red though, they will be wearing this royal dark blue color with a white flag on the trumpet:

They were also very reasonably priced thank goodness! This is one of those extras that you don't need but it ties into the wedding perfectly.

We did our engagement photo's in March. Here are a couple!

We are using Patken Photography for the wedding. They are actually one of the photographer's used for the Disney Weddings in Florida!

So amazing and I cannot wait for them to do my wedding. We are receiving an italian magazine style photo album with 80 photos. The parents albums are also going to be 80 photos each though in a smaller album.

We were also given a free engagement photo shoot and trash the dress shoot for after the wedding & honeymoon.

The package included Save the Dates and Thank You Cards.

Here was the Save the Date we sent out in March:

YAY! I have my first new comment from someone! Thank you for reading! The engagement got me teary eyed just writing it, LOL!

Thank you! It took a while to research and see what the best prices available were. Really happy with the idea so far.

Please continue to read!! I truly appreciate it~

So, back on to the wedding planning!

My engagement ring that Devin had given me when proposing has a very special meaning to me.

Here's a picture of the ring!(SORRY FOR THE GINORMOUS PHOTOS!! Tried to resize on photobucket but wasn't working...)

2012-06-20_19-50-43_332.jpg

My Father past away when I was 19 years old, actually while I was a Cast Member on the College Program in Florida. I was Daddy's Little Girl and things were hard for my Mother and my 4 brothers and sister. I was the oldest of the 6.

My Mom and Dad were married for 20 years, just making it there before he past away not even a month later from Lymphoma(cancer of the blood). Their marriage was filled with love and adoration for one another. Understanding was a norm for them and learning something new about the other every day. Giving gifts to my Mom just because and raising some great kids. I was really blessed to be a part of such a loving close-knit family.

I wasn't aware that my Mom offered the ring to Devin to propose with. It was the ring my Dad had given to my Mom for their 10 year anniversary since the first ring that he had given her was a borrowed ring.

And now I get to look at the ring every day and think of how much love, affection and kindness was put into it from their relationship. I hope that we will be able to put another 50 years on the ring of happiness and love!

The wedding band I got was to go with the ring as much as possible without taking anything away from the beautiful engagement ring.

This is what I ended up with:

Really happy with the ring choices we have and can't wait to share information about the dress and shoes(oh the shoes!) and veil, etc. with you!:woohoo:

Kelly Kelly! Hello! Love your engagement story, your planning so far, and everything. That horse and carriage is so beautiful, really a great choice. I totally understand your being overwhelmed with planning; in my experience it starts out well and smoothly and gets much more hectic. Stay calm and just keep pushing forward and you will get it all done.

Your ring story is really touching and very sweet. It's really wonderful that you get to wear that for the rest of your life and remember not only the love shared, but your dad, and mom, and hubby.

Your engagement pics look wonderful and may I just say that I love the new hair color; it really suits you.

Well, I will be back soon to check in on things. I replied back to you on my thread about the ring bearer pillow (thanks for stopping by btw). Talk soon.

Thank you for joining in Courtenay!! Thank you for the compliments on my engagement and ring story. They both meant a lot to me. You are totally right too. It's like I'm caring a part of my Dad around with me.

That is actually my original hair color! Thank you, I figured to go with my original hair color for my wedding since I will be looking back on these photos forever.

Yes, I went to your page first and responded. You are too sweet. If you ever need anything, or help, please let me know!! :thumbsup2

THE DRESS!!!!!!!

So, I went to a trunk show when the Alfred Angelo Disney Dresses first came out in February/March of last year.

I fell in love with the Belle dress in pictures and wanted to try it on and love it and have that be the dress.

Here's that dress: http://www.alfredangelo.com/collect...65-34d2-4d81-90c9-437deabe902d&pg=1&colorId1=

I tried it on and I did like it a lot. It was pretty but I didn't get those butterfly feelings. My biggest problem is that I hate having to make final decision and when I do make a final choice I will second guess it forever, LOL.

I decided to try on a few more and I just didn't love the other dresses. I didn't think that I would be actually buying a dress that day, but the sale was only for the weekend and I wanted to make sure I got the best deal for the dress I picked. Knowing that, I thought it best to invite my 14 year old sister and bridesmaid, my grandmother and Devin's Mom to come with me tomorrow for the last day of the sale.

Sunday, I went back with my entourage to try and figure out what to do. Putting on the Belle dress again, I did receive some wow but not that big wow with crying and ensuing celebrations. Taking the advice of my consultant, I tried on some other dresses. I told her I wanted something definitely with the lace up back and something that would make me look thinner. I tried on more of the Disney style dresses, which were fun but not for me. I was getting wrong dress after wrong dress and then I found a Maggie Sottero dress.

As I was excitedly going out to show everyone, I saw a HUGE Thick Black Spider on the wall by the door. I am deathly afraid of spiders, especially big hairy ones, and had a panic attack stuck in the other corner of my changing room, crying(not tears of joy). I waited for my Mom to come in and kill it for me, all the while her saying, spiders are good luck charms, you know! UGH! Just remembering it freaks me out!!!

After the trauma was over, I came out in that Maggie Sottero Carrie dress and everyone was awed. I was so happy and my Mom was crying and Grandma was crying and I just knew that this was the dress!

So excited!! :)

First, your rings are so beautiful and the story of your mom giving your DF the ring was really touching. What a beautiful reminder of the love in and for your family!

Second, i would have totally done the same thing if there was a spider! Haha! But way more importantly, your dress is gorgeous! The way the train sort of comes from the side is really elegant, it's going to look amazing in your photos! Congrats on finding your dress!

Just joining in, I can't resist looking at pictures of wedding gowns! :) Your ring is beautiful and so is the story behind it.

And I must say you have the most gorgeous gown ever! Of course I may be a little biased because Carrie was my gown too. ;) It looks beautiful on you!

Congrats and Happy Planning! :goodvibes

Thank you and so happy to have you joining me on my crazy wedding adventure! :dance3: LOL, I can't believe we have the same gown! I just fell completely in love with it! Thank goodness a gown isn't exactly like men and we can have more than one of the original. :woohoo:

Thanks again!

Absolutely adore your gown! It's just stunning on you :goodvibes

Looking forward to reading more of your plans!!

Thank you for coming along of the journey! So happy to hear so many positive things about my dress.

So happy to have people reading, LOL.

Thank you and I promise to post more shortly!

Okay, so I have so many things now coming in and that I'm doing right now, that things seem a little crazy, but happy that plans are moving in the right direction!

My Wonderful Shoes:

I actually got my shoes on the same day that we got our rings. We were in the mall already and Devin suggested going into Nordstrom's Wedding Center there. I knew it was a bad idea(I love to shop!) but I wasn't going to say no, especially if he was the one suggesting it! :rolleyes1

I was already pretty much decided on a pair I found at http://www.myglassslipper.com/wedding-shoes/benjamin-adams/oslo-pk-7802 but I hadn't ordered them yet. I checked out a few shoes and saw these sparkling Jimmy Choo Shoes that were amazing.

I tried them on and it was heaven. It was also $750! :scared1: That was WAY over my budget, but before I had time to deliberate on them, Devin was already purchasing! He looked at me with my mouth gaping and he smiled that smirk smile that I hate because it was the 'he knows me better than I know myself' smile. He just said that he saw my face when I put them on and the look in my eyes and that was it.

My Mom says I'm very lucky to have a guy that gives me anything that I could ever ask for, though I don't ask for much. My shoes are almost the price of my dress!! :sad2: But I love them and they sit on my dresser near my side of the bed and I stare at them when I wake up in the morning. LOL

And here they are:

So happy with them! I would probably never take them off if I could, but it's hard to run in 4" heels, lol.

AHH!! Triple Post! Please forgive me I am just SO excited about my invitations. I have been waiting for them for a while, but it was worth the wait.

They are beautiful and they will be going out in the mail tomorrow after the calligrapher finishes all the labels.

Here are a ton of pictures!!

They ship in this box, with ribbon wrapped around it and a label will be going on top of the ribbon in the center of it. My copy will have a monogrammed "C" on it.

I was so happy with the final product! I just can't wait for everyone's reactions! princess:

You know, it's funny... but the first thing I want to do when I receive something new for the wedding is run onto the dis and tell you guys about it! Maybe it's because you understand it, LOL. Thanks!

Thank you for all the kind words! I have been wearing the shoes around the apartment to break them in because I really want to wear them throughout the night! :)

Thank you again! The invitations were a hassle with the place, but they came out as I wanted them too so I can't complain too much, LOL!

Thank you and I am definitely going to bring them for my next dress fitting to get a feel of what they would look like together. Yeah, that's what I keep thinking about when I want to get mad at him for not doing the dishes or such, LOL. :rotfl2:

Thank you for the invitation compliment! I really and truly wanted these to be perfect! I went above and beyond our budget for these suckers. The color is a royal blue type, though you would have never guessed from the name of the ribbon(electric blue :sad2:). Regal and classic was what I wanted!! :) So glad you said that! Yes, I haven't received any negative comments on the invitations, just a bunch of shocked people.

My boss was like, "Are you marrying into royalty or something?!" And I felt too embarrassed to say something corny like, Yes, I am marrying my Prince Charming!! :lmao:

Bridesmaids Stuff and Drama!

It just wouldn't be a wedding without some bridesmaid drama, right? :lmao:

So, I have 1 maid of honor and 4 bridesmaids.

I had 4 bridesmaids that I had chosen since March of 2011. It took one of the bridesmaids a year to finally tell me that she couldn't be in my wedding party.

She was a girl I worked with at my old job and we were really close. She was quite a bit older than me(38 at the time), with a husband and two kids but if she agreed, than that's what was most important to me... which she did happily. We didn't speak for a while, as I was switching jobs(as a flight attendant and now in my current position in the last year or so) and it was so far in advance, that I didn't feel it necessary to talk about wedding at that time. When I was around, I went out to lunch with her. It was right after the holidays and the beginning of 2012 that she dropped off the face of the earth. Don't get me wrong, I didn't really make the time to call her either but when I started texting her about dress shopping I got no replies and no replies to emails either. She finally wrote back to me saying that she was away and would call me next week.

I waited for a call from her though I had no idea when she was going to call me. She finally did in the early morning while I was on my way in to work and she made up some cockamamie excuse as to why she wasn't going to be able to be in the bridal party. She said that money was tight and her husband might get laid off. Side note, she's been saying that he might get laid off for the past year and a half. And I really don't mind and understand that it does cost some money to be a part of a bridal party and that if it's too much, you should definitely back out. But don't do it last minute making it more difficult for me. She even went as far as to say, "Well, you were having problems with getting money together, so I didn't think you were even still getting married"?! ***?

I was really hurt and con-fuddled, not really expecting this. Right before going into work no less...

After getting myself back into gear, I called my friend and asked her if we could talk. I told her about the situation and she was sorry that it happened but so happy to take the place! :cool1:

And, since it's been a few months since this has happened, she really has turned into my pillar of strength. I didn't invite the other bridesmaid and really haven't talk to her since that day, which is fine. You really get to know who your friends are! I am really happy to have a great group of girls!

The dress they were happy to oblige me with is a Bill Levkoff cocktail dress. I say it that way, because I think half of them didn't truly care for my taste, LOL. I felt a little bad because two of my girls are a little bigger than the models shown, as I am no shape either, and the dress is a little bit puffy and short.

Here's the dress:

Here's my bridesmaid in it:

My Maid of Honor:

Give me your honest opinions! And the sash around the middle won't be staying black.

DISNEY ALERT!! pixiedust:

The sashes are going to be a different color for each bm to represent a different princess. MOH is Light Blue, Sister is Teal, BM is yellow/gold, BM is Red and last BM is wearing Pink. Can you guess which color represents which Princess?? Their flowers that they will be holding will reflect that too.

It's going to be this dutch hydrangea:

dutchhydrangea.jpg

dutchhydrangeabouquet.jpg

and then roses that will match their sash/princess color. I'm hoping that they will be able to come pretty close in matching the flowers and the dress, even if a little floral spray paint is needed to get it there...

Their shoes were just decided the other day. They are dyeable one's that will match the color of the dress.

bridesmaidshoes.jpg

What kind of necklace/earring set should I get for them? They will all be getting up-do's from a salon so do you think I should do a dangle earring and a pendant necklace or something else? Thanks for any help!

Need help with seating chart and your thoughts/ideas!

So, it's starting to get really close now and I need some help with decisions, because I'm becoming a fickle woman...

I was thinking of foregoing the traditional seating place cards and doing a seating chart board instead.

There were two options that I was looking at.

1: A Storybook Seating Chart:

STORYBOOKS.jpg

It's a little fruu fruu for me, but it does fit with the theme nicely. :scratchin

2: A Scroll Seating Chart:

ScrollSeatingChart.jpg

There are a few variations, but the price is the same as the storybook and it has a glitter overlay to it. I can always add something to it to make it a little more fancy. princess:

You can check out more of her work here.

But this is the predicament I am in currently...

Help my sister DisBrides!! :scared:

Hey! I'm joining in on your planning journal! You're not long before me! =]

And you're so close to me! So excited for you!

Your gown is gorgeous and I am also a Maggie Bride!! We're designer twinsies!

I LOVE the first seating chart.. but like you it's a smidgen more froo froo than I like. ;D Maybe if you dull down the froo???

Yay! Thanks for joining in! And yes, very close to you!

Thank you so much for the sweet compliment on my dress. Designer twins, hopefully, for life! Now you can't change your dress!! LOL

LMAO! Yeah, the froo froo is a little much but it's a rental so I don't really know how many changes I could make to it. :( To have one that's mine to keep would be an extra $200+. :scared1:

I just want something that fits and isn't too froo froo. Maybe I will go with the storybook and see what can be done? :confused3

Catching up. First, your wedding shoes are gorgeous! Second, your wedding invitations are even more gorgeous! I literally gasped when I saw them.

I love the idea of having different coloured sashes for your bridesmaids reflecting the princesses! And the matching bouquets. That arrangement is really lovely! Personally I really love the storybook seating chart, so that one gets my vote! It is perhaps a little over the top, but it really fits the theme, as you say. It really makes a statement!

It seems there have been some good updates since the last time I checked in here!
* Your invites are absolutely gorgeous! I love them!
* I really love the idea of having the sashes and flowers be different colors to represent a different princess. That will be a lot of fun.
* If you have the roses colored, just make sure they use the actual spray rather than the dye! A lot of places choose to go with dyed roses if you want colored ones, but the color can leak through the stems. I had blue roses in my bouquet and they made sure to spray them. The only thing is that you don't get as deep or dark a color with the spray vs. the dye.
* I like both of the seating charts, but if it were me I think I'd pick the second one. The idea of the first one is cute but there is just a little bit too much going on there for me!
