I have to say the whole "cherry pie" comparison is hilarious. This is about people's lives, not a momentary choice of food.

I cannot understand why people feel the need to involve themselves in the lives and happiness of others when it's none of their business. If you don't want gay marriage, don't have one. Otherwise, butt out.

All this other junk about multiple wives, marrying dogs, etc. is totally separate and unrelated. People are not dogs and no one is talking about multiple marriages. This is only about allowing gay people to have the same rights strait people already have. The end.

That's not an uncommon response from either side of the isle. Rush (although I don't listen to him much anymore) often says some very good things, but because it comes out of his mouth, half the population simply won't even listen to it.

My friends are a bunch of geeks, and for the ones with girlfriends, they actually respect each other enough not to have sex before marriage. Besides, I was simply restating what I have heard others themselves say about Gay Marriage. If you read all of my post, I am not seeking to legislate against homosexual couples.

About the anal sex, I agree completely, there are other Unnatural acts other than just homosexuality.

I agree - he is an incredibly nasty, rude and ugly partisan on most issues. He calmed down somewhat here, but that didn't really matter because he is in essence just preaching to choir - e.g. the majority of those who watch MSNBC (a very partisan channel) were already against the anti-same sex votes that won in CA, FL and AZ, so his "message" isn't reaching the presumably targeted audience.

The issue is civil rights. The issue is everyone is equal. The issue is not discriminating against any one person or group.

here's something shocking--I don't give a rat's patootie about who you marry or sleep with as along as A) you're all above legal age B) everyone consents and C)the government is fnot orced to subsidize your lifestyle. So go ahead, marry 3 women, or 3 men, or whatever combination you want.

I wholeheartedly agree this is the civil rights of my generation. I listened to my neice explain to someone that her friend Maddie had two mommies. She's 4. do you really think in 14 years it would ever cross her mind to tell Maddie's moms they couldn't marry? no, the same way it would never cross my mind to tell an interracial couple they couldn't marry.

This is just what I believe. I understand that large nosed people claim they are the same as anyone else, and the the friends and family of large nosed people want you to believe they are normal. But come on, the vast majority of normal people don't have large noses. That makes large nosed people unnatural. If God wanted large nosed people, he would have given us all large noses. And I don't want standard business practices to become distorted by allowing large nosed people to get involved.

That's correct...I do not watch MSMBC due to KO....he is IMO a person whose is very narrow minded....with that said....

I voted No on Prop 8 and was out there the other day in protest in Hillcrest( a predominantly Gay town)....with some other friends. All the activists Gay and straight were all in great spirits and even talked about how they are not worried that one day in the near future this to will be resolved and go down into History Books...they were hoping that this would be that time

They are going through the process....keep fighting for it is there motto....they insulted no one for voting Yes...they were not calling anyone ignorant for there voting yes.....they were not full of hate....they get it.....
that it is a process....the more verbal they are the more they get there voice heard....they are making great strides....they are truly disappointed but not full of hate


However on the DIS I read terrible remarks about religious right and ignorant people and how dare they vote yes and they the people in so many words that did are not worth being used to even clean up dog poop...and so on and so on....maybe some of you should go to a rally for Gay rights and learn a few things about what is really going on out there.

By the way I hate using the word "They" it sounds so misplaced.

There have been a few threads on this and calling Californians hateful people....well this Ca. takes offense at that....answer me this do you live in a State that allows Gay marriage....most likely not since only 2 stated in the US currently recognize this as equal rights....

so maybe you should be out there working on getting it passed in your own state and leave us Californians up to ours....

Listen to Olbermann again. Sure, he is making a case over the injustice of Prop 8. But he is doing something else as well.

Olbermann is very carefully rebuking the black community for voting against homosexual rights. He very carefully draws a comparison between the marriage rights of slaves and the marriage rights of homosexuals.

This is interesting because the state wasn't really involved in marriage rights back then. Marriage was a union that was mostly religious in nature. Getting married meant having some sort of religious ceremony. People (slave and non-slave) didn't go to the State to get permission to marry - they went to some sort of religious body.

Slave-owners simply refused to recognize any rights that may have flowed from a marriage of slaves.

Don't get me wrong, I think what happened to slaves and their marriages was unconscionable. But homosexuals do have rights slaves never had. They can get married in churches that accept gay marriage and nobody will ever force them apart.

The whole point of the commentary was to draw a connection between slave marriages and gay marriages in order to rebuke the black community for not supporting gay marriages (and gay rights in general.)

I remember reading this same post a couple of years ago. It still doesn't make any sense. The way a person looks has no bearing on Prop 8. To many Christians, homosexuality is a sin. Having a big nose is not. Many feel that homosexuality is perverse. Having a big nose is not. Personally, I agree with Barack Obama on the issue of gay marriage. (One of the few things on which I do agree with him.)
