I also took two portable chargers, worked wonders on days we used our phones a lot but I really didn't need to use MDE app very often. I probably only opened it two three times a day for a few minutes.

I do a few things... I have an iPhone and pack a charger with me.
I always make sure I am at 100% in the resort and then I put my phone on "airplane" mode - this means I can't send/receive messages OR use the internet OR My Disney Experience. However, when the phone is on airplane mode it isn't constantly searching for an internet or cell connection.
I turn my "brightness" wayyyyyyyy down. This helps conserve battery life, as ewll.
You can still use the camera settings during this time, but you can't do any of the texting/internet. It works for me!

Then, at lunch or during any down time - especially in the MK at Rapunzel's restrooms (a.k.a Tangled Tinkle Towers) - I charge when I can. My phone has NEVER died on me in the parks using these tips! I just have to cut back on my regular facebook / instagram / messaging / twitter tendencies!

Lol....airplane mode is no fun!!!

I have a portable battery pack that wasn't very expensive and can charge 3 things at once. Way easier to plug in my phone in the backpack and keep walking rather than trying to find somewhere to plug in and sit.

What size jackery did you get please? I just looked for it on Amazon and there are three sizes!

I bought a Mophie for my iPhone. It doubles the battery life, which based on my constant use of my iPhone for pictures and the MDE app, usually means my iPhone lasts a full day with the Mophie. It's a bit pricey, but I highly recommend it.

My last phone was a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx. and I literally did NOTHING to keep it from dying. The phone had no problem going through a full day at MK from open to close (midnight) shooting video, taking pictures, updating facebook, texting, etc.

This year I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and I am able to kill the battery in less than a day at home, so I am not at all confident of it surviving a day at Disney. I purchased a spare battery, will carry my charger / cord with me, and may well buy one of those portable chargers as well.
You should be fine just with the spare battery to pop in. I had a Galaxy 3 and now a 4., Both have always been able to do just fine with the one spare. And I do take a lot of photos, videos, never turn anything off other than Bluetooth.

With all the discussions here of cables, chargers, wall sockets, locations, etc.,I don't think I could ever have a phone that did not have a replaceable battery, so easy.

Anyone have any tips on keeping your cell phone going while at the parks? I have a feeling that it will end up our primary source for video and photo, as well as using the new Disney app for wait times, managing FP+ etc. I know that at MK there is a charging station somewhere and also the Rapunzel rest area. Any other suggestions?

We bring an external battery charger, but you can also plug in to the outlet
at the bathrooms at Pirates of the Caribbean, where the benches are.
