Keeping Water Bottles COLD in August

Looking for some tips to keep water bottles COLD during the hottest month.

Last August, I kept 4 water bottles inside a small soft-sided cooler inside my tote bag. I triple bagged a ziploc with ice and changed it often. Honestly, the water was never icy cold.

I'm open to any tips, tricks or suggestions for keeping water bottles cold. Wish there was a freezer section in the mini fridge!

(we don't use reusable bottles, we order two cases of bottled water)

Curious what others do.

I would bring a wide-mouthed bottle that you can put ice in from the quick serve restaurants in the parks then you can pour your water over the ice after you finish the water that you drink during the first fill up.

I think it's important just to drink the water regardless of how cool it is so no one gets dehydrated.

Buy frozen treats to eat something cool -- I like the pineapple or strawberry fruit bars. EPCOT has a an Edy's ice cream shop too that's pretty good if it's not too crowded

In August or any other hot weather months, I would also pay attention to breaks in air conditioned buildings and making sure everyone keeps their blood sugar level up by snacking between meals. You can also sit in the lobby of the first aid building if you need a few minutes to get refreshed.

I don't think its possible to keep it "icy" cold. Unless you carry some sort of refillable vacuum bottle (one was promoted on the pod cast). Even then thermodynamics say its will warm up.

If your getting ice from CS places you should just get some water also (its filtered) and drink that versus trying to keep a water bottle cold.

Other than freezing them and using a soft-sided cooler, I don't know of a good way to keep water bottles cold. Since you don't have access to a freezer you won't be able to use cooler packs anyway.

If you can reconsider taking refillable bottles, I strongly recommend S'well. It is advertised to keep drinks cold for up to 24 hours; I haven't tested that claim but I can say that it works for hours, even on a hot day. I can fill it in the morning before hitting the parks and still find ice in my water mid-afternoon. After the initial fill, I refill with free cups of ice water from CS locations. Their water is filtered and tastes fine to me. The other great thing about S'well bottles is that they don't sweat at all, keeping your bag and hands dry. I've been using mine for nearly a year now and can't say enough good things about it! Totally worth the cost IMO!

We just bring reusable bottles and refill them at every counter service with fresh ice and water..

Ice water is free in the parks. All you have to do is ask for a cup of ice water at any location where they serve fountain drinks. Much easier than lugging bottles with you. :goodvibes

If you're talking about the Fountain View Cafe, that's been closed and will reopen as Epcot's Starbuck's Coffee shop.

Don't know about the fate of the Edy's Ice Cream.

We ate the Edy's in Future World about a week or two ago -- it was near the EPCOT character spot. The ice cream was good but the service was very slow and it wasn't even that busy -- not enough staff maybe. I can't imagine the lines during the summer or very busy times.

I might test this on my next trip. I usually have everyone (kids) take a bottle of water into the park do I know they are enjoying at least one while we're there even if they order something else at meals. Then, I pack frozen bottles in a soft cooler for the car ride back to the resort. This has worked but we often have to buy a couple of bottles of water while we are there if it's really hot. That gets too pricey.

Just saying the same thing everyone else has said really- I always take frozen bottles (in the summer usually 2 per person - plus drink a lot more than that refilling at water fountains) - and take advantage of the ice water available at counter service restaurants.

We carry a thermal backpack that we got at Target for $30. I bring ziploc bags to put ice in to keep the water cold and replace it during the day. It's perfect size for 4 24oz water bottles and snacks.

I order the water bottles from Coscos and have them delivered to our hotel on the day we arrive along with other food.

We always go in August - the last week is the best because most kids are back to school so the park attendance is low. Yes it's hot, but you're in and out of air conditioned locations.

BTW we pour whatever ice that's melted into our Fan/spray water bottles so that water is nice and cool too! Why dump nice cold water!!

Did it just close? Was open last week as late as Wednesday.

Another vote for free ice water at the parks/ I hate lugging around more things than we have to.

Use a Thermos. Or, a Camelbak. You can fill either with bottled water and ice cubes.

Oh, no!! :scared1: I heard of the renovation/switch at MK, but not at Epcot. This place was a favorite of ours to head to for an afternoon snack. My youngest loved getting the huge chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches there. I realize we can get Edy's ice cream at our local grocery store, but boy it sure tastes different eating at Epcot on a hot day while watching the fountain.

This. I hate bringing anything with me in the parks (I also don't have kids).

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm going to look into the 40 oz Hydro Flask.

$35 per bottle is expensive -- I would worry about losing it or it getting damaged -- also carrying a 1 liter container around seems kind of heavy to me but you can combine with a camelback cap so that might be useful -- this might be good if you have a stroller. Reviews state that the cap breaks easily but keep water cold.
