One more thing!

I am sure this is a crazy question, but although we love Disney and it is the only vacation place in the world where we always enjoy ourselves, I worry that it will get "old" going there every year. How do you keep it fresh?

Thanks again!

We switch between OKW (May) & BWV (Dec) so we aren't staying at the same place everytime. This will be our 5th year of DVC, hasn't gotten "stale" yet!

We go into the parks less (no incentive to do so...) that leaves us time to rent bikes, explore, lounge by the pools, SPA!!!!!! SPA!!!
SPA!!!

not to mention the wonderful OKW verandah evenings.

I guess what's keeping it fresh for us is that the more we go the better able we are to actually RELAX!

(pitchers and catchers report today.)

We try to do something new and different each trip. Last August, while at VWL, four of us (Wife, son, mil & self) went on a fishing trip out on the lake. Later in the week after we transferred to BCV, my son and I went on the Aqua Tour at the Living Seas. My son had so much fun, he now wants to get his diving certification (he’s now 15) and when we go back next December we plan on doing the Dive Quest tour. There is plenty to do with the different tours and activities.

We go to the parks less and enjoy more pool time. DS and DH have rented boats, parasailed, etc. We do mini golf, enjoy dining out (dinner). We've rented bikes and we go to the weight rooms. Pool hopping is fun.

We also like to try to go during a special event like the Food and Wine or the Flower show.

We have only been members for 8 years, and we usually go 2 times a year. It hasn't gotten stale yet! We like to take friends along to keep things fresh, and we usually do a different behind the scenes tour each trip.

Go ahead and trade out occasionally through Member Getaways. Particularly if this is the only timeshare you wish to own, it's a perfectly good use of points. (Look at my signature below this posting and you'll see that I practice what I preach.)

There are, of course, pitfalls to trading out. But you can get plenty of advice on this board about how to do it most effectively.

Combining a couple answers from above, we

- alternate the resorts we stay at and will expand to all the resorts at some point

- try new things...DisneyQuest, Cirque de Soleil, Hoop de Doo Revue....things that we can't do every trip but try to mix up and look for new things

- off site visits....we also love Sea World, Busch Gardens and splurged to swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove one time.

We agree that we don't feel compelled to spend as much time in the parks, meaning we don't get to everything every trip. That leaves things to make sure we do in the parks the next trip!

 We spend less time in the parks but we have taken up 'touring'. Two years ago we took the Backstage Safari at AK. Wow what an experience!
Before that we have taken several of the other 'backstage tours'. They are always so interesting.
The Landscape tour at OKW is neat.
Goofy Bingo and other activities at OKW.
We go shopping at the outlets (at each of the 4 Disney outlets at least once!).
We have lunch in Celebration.

We visit the ducks at The Peabody (on I Drive), either in the morning when they march in or in the evening when they march out! And the casual 'diner' restaurant there is nice for a meal!

Visit Pointe Orlando on I Drive to eat at Johnny Rockets and visit the Imax theatre.

Visit other Disney resorts for meals-Whispering Cnayon Cafe at WL, Afternoon Tea at GF, Boma at AKL, the Bonnet Creek Golf Club for lunch (great homemade potato 'chips'), Beaches and Cream at BC for ice cream. (Hmmm we seem to do a lot of eating.)
Rent a movie from Hank's for the evening.
Relax on the verandah.
See other sites in the area. (Some of them a bit old fashioned) We have taken the Winter Park Scenic boat tour - very interesting until I lost my eyeglasses. Took the Tupperware Tour at Tupperware headquaters.
And I visit the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau (the Magiccard people) on I Drive to get more info on other things to do in the area. They are great!

Okay so I like to do somewhat silly things! But being a DVC member for over 12 years has made it possible for me to go and relax and enjoy and do those silly things without having to do 'Commando Disney'!

Take a newbie to WDW! There's nothing like sharing your "home" with someone who's never been to WDW. Our first trip included my BIL who had never been, and our au pair from South Africa. My BIL works for AA and doesn't like to fly - go figure:rolleyes: Seeing WDW with someone who's never been, is like seeing it for the first time all over again!

Over the years we've been fortunate enough to share our love of Disney with 6 lovely young ladies from South Africa and 1 Australian.

We also find at least one thing we've not done in prior years and do it. Be it a restaurant we've never tried, or a new outlet mall to explore.

I totally agree with all of the above.

I would like to add that Disney is always changing, adding, revamping and such. We've been going every January since 1991 and it's always fresh for us!

The other thing to remember is that you can't/don't have to do EVERYTHING on one trip, because with DVC you'll be returning year after year. We usually FOCUS on doing a lot in two parks and maybe popping over to the other two for one morning or afternoon. The next visit, we'll FOCUS on the other two.

It never gets old.

We have had several trips with only adults and many with kids & grandkids...we have very different experiences. This May we are bringing our 5 grandkids, and I plan to stay around the pool with the one year old a good deal. I am very much looking forward to a low key trip and a lot of time smooching the baby. Of course my husband and I are going down alone for a few day first. Sandie

We try something new every trip as well. In May we are staying at OKW for the first time (we own at Boardwalk) plus we are doing Member Homecoming.

Other times it might be a new tour we are doing or a new ride or attraction. Adding those to our old favorites are what keeps it fresh for us.
