We are driving to DL in a couple of weeks and I'm concerned about my two oldest in the back of the minivan. We have a basic minivan without the fancy backseat A/C. Any tips for keeping them cool in the back?

Dress them light. Point the vents so the air goes over the front passngers heads.

They sell clip on fans in Walmart that can be plugged into your cigarette lighter. They are big enough to cool them off but not too big, about 5 inches around. You could hook them on with the big clips but for safety I would bungee cord them to the headreast of the front seats. My boys always call me Debbie Downer but I think in an accident they would fly around and hit people.... wha wha wha.....sorry
I have about the same problem when I drive long distances, I hate the cold but everyone else wants the air on, so I drive with long pants and a sweater so they can be comfortable. I don't need the fans in my car.

1) You can put the windows down a tad. The air will move to the back of the van.
2) Drive at night when it is cooler outside
3) Tell them sleep (that way it is quiet for you also. LOL
4) Block the window if the sun is coming in.

You might also try buying some sun shades that stick on the window. Blocking the sun will go a long way to helping them stay cool.
