Keeping glasses on

My 7 yo ds started wearing glasses a few months ago. He is now tall enough to meet the requirement for all the rides and is very excited about trying out some of the coasters. What is the best way to keep his glasses on? I visited two eye stores in the mall (Pearle and Lenscrafter) and neither carried any sort of strap (only a holder which is meant to be worn around the neck). Any recommendations on what I should buy and where?

Sporting goods stores carry them. We got ours at Sports Authority last month. They attach to the earpieces firmly, and have one of those sliding cinch things that you can cinch right up to the back of your head if need be. I think we paid about $5.00 apiece for them.

Thanks for the tip! There is a Sports Authority just down the street from me! You know, it's funny, but when I asked the eye glass places about where I could find it they only suggested other optical departments like Target, Sears, and JC Penney.

I have been wearing glasses since I was 8 years old. I have never had an issue wearing my glasses on any ride at disney including screaming.

My son plays sports and we got him one at LensCrafters - when we got his glasses. They attach to the back of the earpieces and has a slider to fit it to his head so they don't slip, let alone fall off. It was around $5. This was in a BC LensCrafters.

I also wear glasses and never had problems, in fact mine were loose down my nose but never felt like falling off on any ride including screaming or big thunder..

I just about lost my sunglasses on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad once. Caught them at the last second.

My DH did lose his BRAND NEW sunglasses on the Matterhorn:scared1: He totally did not listen to the little spiel before hand about taking them off, etc. Darn him!

I guess it is all about how snuggly they fit. My DD has beeen wearing glasses since she was 8 (and now 15) and we have never had a problem with them.

I have to wear sunglasses or I will get a migrane and I have never had an issue with them either.

My younger son had no problem with his glasses staying on when we were at DLR in November. The only rides he didn't get to go on due to height restrictions were Indy and Screamin', but we rode Space Mountain every day, as well as BTMR, Matterhorn, and ToT.

we wear a fanny pack and glasses go in there prior to the take off on any rides. Unless the rides go upside down though we rarely have issues with them slipping. But sometimes the ears get beat up by bumping against head restraints so that is why we take them off.

My husband, almost 9 yr old and me all have glasses.

I would feel less anxious with him wearing a safety strap - otherwise I wouldn't be able to enjoy the ride worrying about whether his glasses might fly off! It would be quite a disaster since he really does need them to see clearly. Along the same lines - anyone ever have a problem with a removable retainer flying out their mouth? My older ds wears one and it's expensive ($300 because it has an expander built in) so I wouldn't want to lose that either!
