We are coming to Disney in February. We plan on surprising our 5 y.o. and 2 y.o. with the trip. But I have hinted around to the 5 y.o that if she is does things like keep her room clean, etc. Tinkerbell is watching and may invite her to Disneyworld. I also plan on doing Tinkerbell gifts on vacation to keep melt downs to a minimum (hopefully). Yesterday we received the Disney DVD even though I have our room booked. I told DD that Tinkerbell sent it to her because she wants her to come visit but she has to be good and listen to mommy & daddy. She is so excited at the possibility of going. I just hope I don't ruin it and tell her we are going.

FYI the Disney Store has free shipping on park merchandise so I ordered an autograph book for DS & DD I plan on giving it to them on the morning we leave with a few other small items with a letter from Mickey to DS & Sleeping Beauty to DD and a letter from Tinkerbell to the whole family.

So fun! I don't want this to be taken the wrong way, but make sure you don't use the behavior thing too too much! You're going to Disney no matter what so using it as a bargaining tool may end up back firing!

That being said, we surprised my kids last year, right before they were 5. They asked if they could be surprised every trip from now on!!!!!

Have fun!

When we got the DVD she was like so tinker bell & Santa are like the same they are both watching me. She's a very good kid. Even at Christmas I rarely have to use the Santa is watching you line. But like all kids has her moments. Our son is special needs and doesn't understand exactly yet. When we were watching the movie I was asking her if she'd ride splash mountain with me; she excitedly answered yes! I asked her what princess dresses we should pack if we went soon & she said all of them lol. It's fun to hint around but she has no clue yet that we are really going.

We doing a surprise too, it's so fun! I find the hardest part is figuring out what they want to do without tipping them off. So now they're convinced we're going, but think it will be at the end of the summer. They even tried to trick my husband by telling him that I told them we were going to Disney after we went to the beach to see if he would confirm their suspicions! They are going to be so disappointed when school starts and no Disney, because we aren't going until December :rotfl2:

I love this idea. I want to surprise my kids with a Disney trip so bad - but I don't know if I could keep it a secret!

I'm planning on surprising my 5 year old. Part of what is keeping me from telling him is that I know if I told him he would talk about it non-stop, which would be very distracting when he starts school next week.
The other reason I can do it is we booked around 45 days out, so it's not that long to keep a secret. If we had planned a year, or even 6 months in advance, I think I would tell him.
DH and I have a code word that we're using when we have to talk about it when he's around. It's "Pickles." Every time we talk about it, DS says "I don't like pickles. They're yuck."

We surprised our kids the first year we took them. It was amazing and a memory I'll never forget. We are going again this November and I really wish I had surprised them again. I'm now wracking my brain trying to think of something I can bring them on the plane to add a small element of surprise! Enjoy your surprise, it will be great!!!

Love the idea of a code word! We need to do that!

I'm also surprising my three boys with their very first trip in November. How are you guys planning on surprising them?

We are surprising our 10 year old and 8 year old with their first trip in 30 days and we have no idea what to do!!! I was in Florida for work in Feb and picked up some minnie mouse ears and disney shirts, but thats all I have figured out!

I've been picking up stuff for the kids. About a week ago the disney store had park merchandise free shipping so I purchased my daughter a princess autograph book & my son a mickey one. I've also gotten him a new mickey movie to watch in the car, I plan on getting my daughter inside out since we are going in Feb it should be on DVD by then. I plan on putting my goodies in bags with letters from mickey & princess aurora to each of the kids & a letter from tinker bell to the whole family. I will also put their magic bands in their. I'm pretty excited!!

This is what I have for our son

I wish we could have surprised our 7 year old, but he does not do surprises well. Not knowing what's going on makes him very nervous. We surprised him with Disney on Ice once. We drove to the arena and didn't tell him why. He was so nervous and agitated that it was about 15 minutes into the show before he started to enjoy it. We also tried to do a surprise drive to Disneyland (we live about an hour and a half away) and he got really upset because he didn't know what we were doing.
For us, this way is better anyway. We've got a paper-chain countdown, and he's been involved in the planning as well.
