Keeping dips cold, question

Ok folks I need your help...we are having a party Saturday ...outside.
It's supposed to be 95 with a heat index of 105 We will have tents
set up for people and for food. I am having a lot of dips that I need to keep cold. Have any suggestions on keeping these dips cold without breaking the bank? I was thinking a bowl inside a bowl type thing with ice. But I know many of you are very creative when it comes to things like this. Any suggestions?

I would do a bowl inside a bowl with ice, but I would try to make a mold of ice. In essense, I would look for instructions on how to make an ice bowl? Not to use as a bowl but to use as a perfectly fitted bowl to the bowl that you will use for the dip? So that the dip bowl is completely surrounded by ice and no air pockets? Does that make sense? Then I would research the best methodology for how to place that bowl so that the melting ice melted less and didn't make too much of a mess.

Maybe someone else knows how to do that. But I'd have to research that idea.

We have several under the bed storage boxes (plastic) just for that purpose! We fill them with ice and just place the dip bowls in the ice.

This is the same idea that you have, but larger. At a friends open house, she had purchased the smallest size platic kiddie pool, added lots of ice and put all her salads, dips, veggie tray etc in it. Worked well.

We've got two clean garbage cans for this . One for diet, one for regular.

Is there any way you can set the food up in the house? My sister went to an outdoor party this weekend, and she said it was NASTY with flies landing on all the food - yuck!

The last picnic my mother had she rented from a local party supply store an ice table. I had never heard of it before. It was a regular plastic table but the top of it was a few inches deep sorta like it was made upside down . She covered it in ice and put all the cold items right on top. It worked very well though.

I just went to a grad party and this was used. The fruit bowl, veggie tray condiments, dips, and salads were in there. Awesome idea!!! I'm gonna use the kiddie pool next time I have a party lol.

If you have tupperware bowls that nest together or any I guess that fit inside each other but with space around, you put water in the larger bowl and put the smaller bowl inside put a can of tuna or corn to weigh it down then freeze, it will now have a ring of ice to keep your dip cold.

Another idea - put out maybe half or a third of the dip at a time - keep the rest in the fridge and refill as it gets low.

If you do go the pool route, you can buy the cheap disposable plastic party tablecloths to line the inside and drape over the edge before you fill it with ice. It looks a bit nicer than just the kiddie pool sitting there.

This is what our friend does when he has a party for 100+. Works great.

I have seen a small clean metal boat, filled with ice then placed the dips on one end and the drinks on the other.

Also, there is a trick with adding salt to the ice that causes the things to freeze but I am not sure on the ratios but maybe someone else would know.

If possible do alot of small bowls and refresh as needed, throwing out any remainding dips.

I was going to suggest adding salt to the ice too...I don't have measurements, I just add some handfuls of kosher salt to ice in a ziplock bag and add it to a cooler if I need to keep something extra cold.
