Hey girls,

wanted to know if you have any advice about trying to keep cool in your wedding dress in the month of May in Fl. I am from Ca. so I am use to the heat, but the humidity I am not so good with. Any hints? Anything I should or shouldn't do with my hair, make up or dress?

Yeah...get married in December! :rotfl2: Just kidding...We originally planned our wedding for May and moved it to December because I'm a huge wuss when it comes to the heat (and I lived in Ft Lauderdale for 5 years!)

Seriously though, May is Disney's biggest wedding season so I'm sure there are plenty of brides that can offer you some great suggestions! I'm sure it's not too bad! ;)

We just got back from a week long trip and even though the forecast was for the weather to be between 70 and 90, with rain every day, I have to say the heat was not any worse than March or April. I'm not sure if this is unusual, but it actually only ended up raining 1 day. The weather was pretty close to perfect. I have been in November and January, and had to tote jackets around because it got cold at night (and sometimes even during the day). However, the weather in May was actually warm enough to not have to worry about jackets, but not so hot that you were passing out. As far as keeping cool I would suggest wearing your hair up if possible, I know I hate the feeling of sweaty hair on my neck. HTH!

Yeah we were thinking December too, but its just to hard for everyone to get there. DF family is big and does a big family holiday get togther and well its just to hard. So we went for May, I didn't want to be there with all the Spring Breakers.

I have been in Nov. too and when we were there, we didn't need jackets one day and the next day we did. It got cold over night. I have never seen that before.

I was thinking of putting my hair up, but I look better with it down. So I am not sure what I will do. I need to start playing with my hair to see what I can so with it.

I had no idea how hot it was going to be. I thought that my dress would be ok since it was strapless, but since I had so much tulle at the bottom i was crazy hot. my legs were sweating! I just tried to kick my legs out as much as possible! As for makeup, if I was looking a little shiny, I used blotting tissues. Adding more powder would just look cakey. I had my hair put all up so I wouldn't have to worry about it with the heat and humidity. It lasted all day. :goodvibes

It would be great if they could install a fan under our dresses. My dress is strapless too. I can't remember how the bottom is, I have only had it one once. The lady told me the material was light weight and hopefully that helps to be cooler. I doubt it, but maybe.:)

I like your idea about the blotting tissues, I had forgotten they had those. I have already put iton my list of things to take. Thanks for the idea.

Just make sure you drink lots of water and try to stay in the shade for as long as possible (if you're having an outdoor wedding). My big trip-up (and I'm a native and should've known better!) is that I didn't put any sunscreen on and because my dress was strapless like yours, my shoulders ended up pretty red. This is mostly due to the after-ceremony pics Randy did along the Boardwalk, not from the reception itself, but thought I'd give you a heads up. HTH!

Oh thank you. I would hope I would remember, but then again, there is so much going on that day. I am thinking of making a check list for the wedding day. So at the last mins, before leaving the room, I can make sure I did everything. I am sure there will be something forgotten, but at least I can try to not forget.

We got confirmed yesterday, the wedding will be at 10:00am at the Wedding Pavilion and the reception will be at Living Seas. So we are indoors, but like you said, pic will bring us outside at the Pavilion, so sun screen is needed.

Thank you for your advice.

great locations by the way:goodvibes Well i am a July bride - 2:30 eremony checking in here and its not that bad. We had no choice over season being a teacher and i was a little concerned but the ladies gave some great advice so far. I wore my hair half up and down and it stayed wonderfully. I had Lisa do my hair and make-up and everything stayed on and in place from 1pm to 10om at night. I danced and all that so there were no worries there. It was a littel hot after the ceremony taking picture outside but they wer fast to move us along and you can opt for more indoor pics if it is hot or shaded ones. Def. try some sunscreen if it sunny that day. We did get a bit of color from being outside. It was hot under the dress - as every said, but as soon as we got in the limo it cooled off. Now i didn;t wear stocking....maybe that is bad bridal etiquette but it was too damn hot for that - it did help.

Other than that - your locations are the same as mine and I was even outside for my DP and it was fine. It will be great and May can have some milder days.

I love the locations too. DF wanted to be indoors due to he is Canadian and not a fan of the heat. Can’t say I blame him. :) I didn’t want a ballroom, so the Pavilion looked so beautiful, so we went with that. And when I was at WDW in Nov of 03 I ate at Living Seas and love it. DF and I had our first date at an aquarium, so it just fit perfectly. I am so excide.

I’m not wearing stockings either. I just bought my shoes today, they are a thong (not a flip flop, more dress). Anyhow, so with it coming up between my toes, I wont ware stocking and really didn’t want too. It seemed like it was going to be hot.

Can I ask you, what did Lisa charge to do your hair and make-up? I haven’t started to call anyone and I am not even sure when I should start to call to see who could come do my hair and make-up. Do you have your photos posted?
