Keeping an eye on Tropical Weather 2024

I wonder if DVC will refund points on unused night
If declared 7 days prior, appears they will.

I posted link to policy on DVC board

https://disneyvacationclub.disney.go.com/vacation-planning/hurricane-policy

My issue is points used are Dec '23 UY. Cannot bank or possibly use/rebook befor expiry.

If we pull plug will need to call them & hope they give grace
I agree but not sure what to do. I am on hold with southwest and they say hold time is 1-2 hours and if I change my current ticket on line it’s like buying a new ticket as of now they are not waiving fees
Need to make change thru email link they send. Same as the sort you receive when there's a flight time change.

Southwest has not issue travel advisory yet. Seems like most other airlines have. I might book a new ticket on Spirit. Still on hole with southwest

I just finished the infamous red gas can fill-up(s) at one of our local gas stations. As predicted, it was busy with other like-minded, experienced people. Except, a few of the pumps have the traditional plastic bag tied around some of the pump's handles.

It is actually good that folks around here are heeding the advice of topping the fuel now and not wait until a last-minute mad rush to risk not having any fuel; I've done this dance many times before and, with the influx of some many newer transplants, I fear they met caught out.

AFAIK SW doesn’t charge change fees, you just book your new flight/cancel the original. You do have to pay the difference if the new fare is higher, though?
I remember one flight I had to change day of due to a dead battery/couldn’t get to the airport on time. I did lose my boarding group on the flight I caught a couple hours later & boarded in the Cs though.

we just did the same. Not as bad as I thought it would be.
Car, golf cart, generator and red cans are all full of gas.
We are still all stocked up on everything else from preparing for Helene.

Wednesday is blocked out for AP, not surprisingly.
Interesting. I have a Wednesday AP reservation for the MK which I made last week. I wonder when they decided to block it out.

....and no, I doubt seriously that I'll be going anyway.

I tend to think that MK for this Thursday and/or Friday will go to no reservations available for at least some AP tiers. Naturally, I booked MK for both days based on a hunch.

We are at Disney now and supposed to leave Wed night. I would like to leave sooner but not heard from my airline that they are waiving fees to change. When do you think airlines will reach out to offer changing flights?
We're currently here, too. One of us is scheduled to leave early Wednesday. The other late Thursday. And MNSSHP tickets for tonight. Looks to be a different adventure vacation than we planned. Wishing the best to you and your traveling partners.

The 11:00 update on Tropical Tidbits is showing a northern shift in the track with a lot of the bad weather on the north and east side of the storm. If this holds it would be good news for Disney as the effects should be more like a TS than a hurricane. These are in six hour increments, starting 6:00pm Wednesday and ending noon Thursday:

You are correct. I originally paid with miles and didn’t have enough to make the change for the difference. I looked at cash prices and it was $380 one way each ticket. I finally got ahold of Southwest and since there had been a schedule change before she was able make the change at no cost difference. We are now leaving Monday vs Wednesday. Since we were checking out in Wed I didn’t want to get stuck here with no room or flight. Glad we were able to change our flight. The flights for Mon and Tues were filling up while I was on the phone with them. If you are planning on changing flight better do it soon

Will Disney reopen new room reservations before Tuesday for people looking to ride out the storm there?

I saw on the news that Rosen Hotels are running $69 a room and no pet fees for the hurricane. But I can’t find anything official from Rosen.
