We have a FP for Festival of the Lion King for four on 2/16 at 9:30. I'm just wondering whether it's worth using a FP for this, or whether we should try to get a FP for another attraction.

FP+ for FoLK (except on exceptionally busy days) is unnecessary.
Just arrive at the theater 35 minutes before show-time.
(BTW, the FP+ that you have now is for the show that begins at 10AM,
first show of the day.)

Many more details, logistics, and FP+ priorities found HERE.

It really depends what other FP you're getting. We have a hard time using up 3 FP at AK. But as Robo stated, it's not worth getting the FP. For early shows, you don't even need to arrive that early.

Thanks so much, Robo. I figured the show was a little later than the window of time listed on the FP (which was 9:30-9:50). Thanks for the link too. I have been reading a lot about FP+...I just don't want to waste a FP on something that doesn't need it.

My suggestion of arriving 35 minutes before show-time is to put non-FP+ guests on a nearly equal footing with guests who DO have FP+ for the show.

Those who arrive about a half-hour before show-time (and line up at the standby entrance) will be able to
get a choice of seats in the theater comparable to those entering with FP+.

my mom will have an ECV and I was thinking since that will have to be floor seating we wont need to FP this. Am I correct in my thinking?

I wouldn't use a FP+ for the show. We always vacation during free dining in August, a relatively busy time, and have never had any problem getting in to see FOTLK. Generally, we show up about half an hour before showtime.

You would not need a FP, but you should arrive at least 30 minutes before show-time, so that you'll be sure to get in for the show you choose.
There are a LOT of guests using wheelchairs and ECVs at WDW.

Is your mom able to transfer from the ECV?? The new theater has only 8 spaces for ECV's. Chances are that the FP folks will get those. I discovered with my ECV mom that it was better to get the FP. Although she can transfer, she found the benches to be pretty uncomfortable.

I think it's hit or miss. We usually go to one of the morning shows. The really early non-FP standbys end up in the giraffe section. But about 10-20min prior, depending on how many standbys, they line people towards the Warthog section, along with the ECV. Last time it was very disorganized when the doors opened. There was no direction where to sit, if people should start at the bottom of the bleachers or top. They did block off the floor seats...which was annoying because the really late people (after doors closed) got those seats.

If you want to lion section, you'll need FP+. And most of the elephant section as well. Otherwise, no FP needed.

Why would you want to be in the Lion section?

We used a FP for the 10am FOTLK show back in November and were happy with our decision. We used our other two on the safari and EE, and didn't have a use for the third which is why we chose the show. We got in line at about 9:40 and were let into the theater shortly after. We got an aisle seat in the second row, and I suspect if we had a kid with us, he or she would have been chosen for something. Several of the performers came up our aisle at various times.

Cuz my 2yr only roars and refuses to make any of the other sounds :goodvibes But we make do roaring in the warthog section.

Glad to see that you have been seated in the warthog section, (regardless of which animal sounds you choose.) ;)

my mom cant walk stairs so no she won't be able to transfer expect maybe into a wheelchair.

We tried stairs at fantasmic 2 years ago and she fell. Thankfully 2 strong men were right in front of her or it could have been horrific.

Then you'll be one of the lucky ones that get the floor seats :goodvibes. Just make sure to drive the ECV up to the CM and let them know. There are several rows of floor seat in the Warthog section. And like I mentioned before, they reserve 1 or 2 rows until the show starts.
