Assuming Disney cracks down on the pooling of dining credits, we've currently got 4 table service restaurants planned when we only have enough credits for 3. Had planned to pay for the kids at two of them - but if I can't -
it's a toss-up between paying for Chef Mickey's completely or Sci-Fi. Ran the numbers, and they come out about even. So, I'm thinking, use the credits for Sci-Fi and splurge and have dessert that we normally wouldn't have and just pay for Chef Mickey's. But, being that we are not big breakfast eaters - it kills me to pay that much for breakfast. I know, you're paying for the atmosphere - but we did CP for breakfast before and loved it. Will Chef Mickey's measure up, or should I just cancel it?

Well we normally do the last seating at chef mickeys which i think is like 11 so we count it as lunch and we had the characters practically to ourselves and the food was still great. Matter fact we didnt eat anything for the rest of the day except snacks since we were so full.

We have never done CP, but we went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast in 2003, and we all liked it a lot. The food was very good, and everything was extremely orderly. Had no problems missing any characters or anything, i would recommend keeping it.

We almost did that one year too - can't remember why we didn't.
But unfortunately, that won't work for that day. We're doing lunch at CRT that day, and I'm hoping to get a 7:00 seating for Chef Mickey's. I'm trying to please both my son and daughter - don't normally do two table service restaurants in one day - but this is a quick add-on trip before our cruise.

Between all the food on the cruise and the free dining plan on the park side of the trip, I don't want to think what we're going to weigh when we get back!!

You will get all sorts of opinions and I think it comes down to how much you are willing to 'spend' for breakfast and the atmosphere. We are on the free dining and my son is 12 so we can pool our coupons and put it towards CM's. However, prior to that and the fact we were unsure if we'd do the meal plan or not (before it was free), we knew we wanted to go to CMs the last morning. We don't have tkts for the parks and are leaving about noon...and that was where we wanted to go. For us, its the atmosphere and one last shot of disney magic. My ds12 doesn't get into the characters like younger kids but we didn't care, he wants to go. Also, it's way more than what we'd normally spend for breakfast and I can't eat that much at breakfast...I eat a lighter breakfast. However, to us it was important to go.

Sorry...longwinded and no real answer... :guilty:

Actually - you gave me an idea! I had planned nothing for check out day because I would like to be in Port Canaveral early to get on the ship. But we could get up that morning and go to Chef Mickey's. If we end up getting to pool the credits after all, great! If not, we can decide the night before if we feel like getting up early enough to do breakfast there or not. THANKS!!! :teeth:

We are going in July. I sure hope it is good. We aren't big breakfast eaters but in we wanted to break up eating breakfast in the room every morning. I really didn't want to use a table on it but if it is good I guess it will be worth it. :3dglasses

I think that chef mickey's is the best character breakfast at disneyworld. Love the atmosphere, and knowing that the monorail comes through that floor makes me go there every trip!!!!! ::MickeyMo

How would you all compare bfast as Chef M and the one over at the grand floridian????? We have done dinner at chef M before and really enjoyed it. This trip I wanted to do a bfast on our "day of rest" and am torn between the 2 restaurants. Any thoughts????

Well, it is hard to say. I know what "I" would choose...no doubt about it, CM's. I have done the character breakfast at both, and I prefer the atmosphere and food AND characters at CM's.

BUT...I have said that to people and they tell me I am crazy, that they prefer 1900 Park Fare (Faire?) so you just have to decide what characters your prefer.

Chef Mickey's is a lot of fun! :rotfl: I would keep it! I also think planning a late brfst.( more of a brunch) is a good idea! :cheer2:

They say a picture is worth a thousand words No, I'm not in this picture, but this is one of my favorites and our experience at Chef Mickey's was one of the highlights of our trip!

Given the choice that the original poster poses, I would pay for the Sci-Fi diner. Many, many people have complained about the food quality at the Sci-Fi, but my family has always ordered the cheeseburgers and been very happy. They make a great burger and cook it to order (med/med well/well and sometimes even slightly pink in the middle like I like it!). From all accounts, the rest of their menu is sub-par. But really-- who goes to a drive in theater and orders shrimp pasta??????? Eat the food that you would eat at a real drive in (burger, fries and shake) and you tab will be reasonable and the food will be good.

Oh, burgers and onion rings is what I calculated when I was running the numbers. It still came up about even with Chef Mickey's. So, I figured, use the credits for Sci-Fi and get the free dessert. We don't normally order desserts, so, in my mind :teeth: we're still getting something for free.

According to the menus at AllEars - burgers are 10.99, onion rings are 6.99, add drinks to that - you're more than the $17.99 at Chef Mickey's.
