My rate for a 8 day rental full sized Emerald Aisle dropped another $22.00. Yipee!! It pays to keep on checking. I think my rate has dropped over $100 from my original reservation. So - keep checking your rates!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

When are you going?
My 8-day rental dropped another $6 today, Dec 7-15.

I checked again this weekend and my minivn rental dropped another $12 from Dec 4-11. Complete bill is $255.20 now

zulaya...

May I ask what you are using to get your minivan rate down that low? I checked mine again and got it down to $272.05 for Dec. 3-10 by using the old DC contract number. I was just wondering if there's something I'm missing to get it lower.

Thanks!

My five day rental for Dec went down $11, but I had to take out the NHOL code to get the decrease. Total estimate for a 5 day rental, full size, EA $120.03

Mine hasn't dropped a single penny. We have a minivan for 10 days and paying $442. This is with emerald code which was cheaper than using disney code. How are you checking your rate?

I have my rental for Dec 4-11. I am using the NHOL product rate from the National website, the old DC contract number and a coupon code for $15 off a weekly rental. My base rate was $229 and the DC contract gave me $11.45 off base rate and then the coupon, as I said, gave me $15 more off base rate. So, that dropped my base rate to $202.55. With taxes, I have it at $255.70

OK, thanks. Your $15 coupon code is what I'm lacking. Is that something you got off of a site, or something that was mailed to you?

Thanks for sharing the news of the dropping rates!

You have to physically have the coupon and I don't have doubles. I think it's from an Entertainment-type book

Thanks guys I saved another $2. So far I have saved about $40 just keeping track with you guys!!

Thanks for all the help with getting lower rates. We've rented from National before using the EA service, but have always gotten cars. We're doing a van this trip and notice that it switches service to Emerald CHOICE...is the process the same as with the Aisle where you just go out, get your van, and drive through the check gate? Or, do you have to go to the counter and take more time? I actually have a reservation for a van with Dollar, too, using their Fastlane (which we've never used). I made this when National's rates were so outrageous for a van. But, now that National's rates are the same as Dollar's, I'm wondering which to do. Any advice?

My rate dropped $100 over the original reservation made in August. I keep checking and rebooking whenever the fare drops. I saved $22 this time around. Guess I'll check out the $15 off coupon also. It does pay to keep checking up until you leave. My total for an 8 day rental of a full sized car (Emerald Aisle) with all taxes is $165.60. Wahoo!!!:p

Snurk71,

"Emerald Choice" service is very similar to "Emerald Aisle" except that you can only choose a vehicle from the aisle for the vehicle class you reserved. AFAIK you don't have to go to the counter.

"Emerald Aisle" service also allows you choose from the actual Emerald Aisle (the name one of the rows in which cars are parked) which in principal contains almost anything.

These days there is no practical difference as the Emerald Aisle itself seems to only contain full-size and intermediate cars and almost never luxury sedans, minivans or SUVs.

Thanks so much for the website info. Had to rent a car for at least a day which was going to cost me $50 w/20% DC discount for a compact. Now I have an intermediate for 3 days for $100!!!

Thanks again!!! :Pinkbounc

Thanks everyone I just saved another $12. This is a great site.

Marcee:)

Thank you for the site! Question: does National's Emerald Isle program give you discounts, or just the ability to pick out your car? I have the free membership application for DC members, but I haven't filled out the paperwork yet . . .

The discounts available for the Emerald Aisle Program are not that good. What Emerald Aisle does though is allow you to select a Full-Size car for the same price as an intermediate.

Is everyone renting from national or are there any great(???) deals using the other companies and their codes? I have 10 days at the end of Feb and into March with the old DC code for $324 full size and before I am able to check on the coupon or a new code I end up turning off this ancient and very slow computer.......
