I hear that the latest Baymax may be staying at HS is March?

Why remove such a popular character? Wreck It Ralph and Vanellope stuck around for almost 2 years after their movie release.

What's the rush anyway?

On a scale of 1 to 10, if Baymax leaves, my pain level would be an 11.:thumbsup2

He's a pretty difficult character to pull off is the short answer. Count your blessings--he was supposedly going to last only until this month.

Why remove him I don't understand it as well...don't you have merchandice and DVDs to shill from him still??

Not understanding some of Disney's decisions sometimes - you have a hit that's a non princess, let him have a que to meet guests.

Baymax seemed AWFULLY awkward to me. I imagine its a logistics issue more than anything.

I have researched a little (a lot) and mesaboy is correct. Baymax is difficult and costly to maintain and paired up with Hiro (MY hero), a face character, that one meet and greet is very pricey to maintain.

I'm hoping they get extended at least through Spring Break.

Maybe they will add them to Japan in World Showcase if the DVDs sells well. They are about on par with Elsa & Anna's relevance in Norway. We waited 2 hours in line to meet them and the Baymax sippers were selling out daily. I think they are "hugely" popular.

Another rumor is they will move to Innoventions for a techie exhibit with meet and greet. But, that will still be costly.

I think Disney can afford it, especially for characters popular with boys that aren't princesses.

Yep, location is not the main problem.

Disney can afford just about anything. Whether it makes business sense is the real question.

I think TPTB are very aware of the character's popularity. But the costume that he wears has had technical problems. As in, they can't seem to keep him inflated for any length of time. Maintenance on the costume has also been problematic. And probably expensive.

and face it, he, and the movie were not a "big hit"

Yep. He probably wouldn't be going anywhere if he had a role in...well, you know. ;)

They probably don't need the M&G to market the movie much past the Blu-Ray release next month--which come to think of it, may be a reason why he got extended to March.

They can't figure out where to put him in Norway? Sorry couldn't resist. ;)

I hope that he sticks around.

Disney set him up like the character in the movie, so it's a person wearing this big inflatable costume. But the costume malfunctions a lot, and the line barely moves. We were there to see him - they needed to take a break every four or five greets. So the line is long and doesn't have a FP, and people get upset.

That would be my guess as to why they are discontinuing him -- the mechanics more than the economics of the character.

Ulf, the mime, in FoF has the same problems. He reportedly deflated during the parade. At least for Ulf, he's only needed for a few minutes per day versus hours for Baymax.

But it still is a budget problem. Hiro and Baymax replaced two fur characters. That's a huge monetary difference just in the pay scale, not to mention all the tech and maintenance involved.

Baymax is there?!? WHERE? Are there other BH6 characters as well? This movie is a huge hit with out family (even the adults!).

When in March are they scheduled to appear until? March 31? Also what is the usual wait time for them?

In DHS' Animation Building with Hiro at least until March.

My kid had a Staypuff The Marshmallow Man costume for Halloween once. Ran on batteries and stayed inflated for the entire 6 hours he had it on. I paid $30 for it. I think they could pull of Baymax flaw-free if they really wanted to.

I'm so glad we got to see Baymax when we were there in January. It was one of our favorite character photos. Probably just 2nd to our photo with Dug and Russell.
