I just switched from the AKL to GF yesterday due to last minute notification of construction/rehab. Very few options available at this late date, so we are staying at the GF again. NOT my first choice for this trip! Anyway, I paid the additional balance that the CM mentioned. I told her that it didn't sound right, she checked and came back with the same amount. This morning I checked and my reservation was cancelled due to non payment!! I called and they reinstated the reservation. This time I paid the full balance. However, I had to put up with a VERY snarky CM. You would think that all this was my fault somehow! Three days before leaving, I really don't need this additional hassle. If it weren't within the cancellation time frame I might be tempted to give up on the entire trip!!
I was going to keep checking to see if one of my preferred options became available. Now I am worried to do anything else afraid it will upset the system again.
OP is definitely right - keep an eye on your reservations! Things do go wrong on occasion.
