We had planned to get to MK for the 9am opening, but since we did so much more than we expected the night before at MVMCP, we decided to sleep in a little and take our time getting to the park. We also wanted to give the temperature some time to warm up since we froze our butts off the night before. We lounged around for most of the morning, finally arriving at MK at 11:15am. We were hungry when we got there, so we went straight to Columbia Harbour House for a quick lunch (I posted a review of this meal and all our other meals on the restaurant board).

After lunch we grabbed fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and went to Hall of Presidents. HOP was something that Helen had wanted to see on her last trip but didn’t get the chance, and she had told me several times before the trip that this was at the top of her list of attractions to see. She really loved this attraction, and just being with someone who liked it so much made me enjoy it more than I had on previous visits. After HOP, we caught a ride on the Liberty Square Riverboat. By then, it was time for our BTMRR fastpasses, so we headed that way. I enjoyed this ride much more today than I had the night before when I was soaked and freezing. After BTMRR, we headed toward Pirates of the Caribbean. This ride is one of my favorites. Like Haunted Mansion, it never gets old, even though I’ve been on it so many times before. My favorite line in the ride is “We wants the redhead,” but since I’m a redhead I guess that’s not a big surprise.

We headed over to Fantasyland and grabbed fastpasses for Peter Pan with a return time of 4 to 5. Since we wanted to watch the afternoon parade, the return time worked well with our plans. We had just enough time to ride the teacups before getting a seat for the parade. The park wasn’t very busy at all this day, and it was the first time I’ve ever been able to ride the teacups without a wait. Helen rode the teacups on her first trip, and she kept telling me that she liked to make the teacups spin as fast as they’ll go. She wasn’t kidding either! Luckily I love spinning rides too and never get sick on anything. We were laughing so hard during the whole ride I could barely catch my breath. After we got off the ride, it took us a couple of minutes to get steady on our feet. It was so fun!

It was 2:45, so we headed over to the hub and found a nice spot on the curb to sit and watch the parade. I had never watched the parade from this area, and I was pleased to see how close we were to the action. I’m a sucker for characters, especially Mickey and the gang, so when Donald passed close by I held out my hand to him. He took my hand and kissed it, and then Chip came up to push Donald out of the way and take my hand. I love interacting with the characters this way.

After the parade, we headed to Aloha Isle to get Dole Whips. I have to have at least one Dole Whip each trip, usually more. This was Helen’s first time having one, and she really liked it.

It wasn’t quite time for our Peter Pan fastpass, so we took a quick stroll through Toontown. It was more crowded there than in the rest of the park for some reason, so we just did a quick walk through Mickey and Minnie’s houses then headed toward Peter Pan. I really like this ride, but I don’t understand why it is always so busy even when the rest of the park isn’t. We waited longer in line for this ride than we did for anything else we rode that day, even with fastpasses. After Peter Pan, we decided to go see Mickey’s Philharmagic again. By then, the crowd was really starting to pick up as people were arriving for the last MVMCP of the year. I knew that the party was sold out that night, and the crowds were getting really heavy. I was so glad that we had gone to the party the night before instead when the crowds were light.

We decided to head out of the park, browsing through the Main Street shops and stopping to get hot chocolate at the Main Street bakery. We left the park and caught a monorail to the Grand Floridian to check out the Christmas decorations. The tree there is very pretty, and the gingerbread house is definitely impressive. I still prefer the decorations at Wilderness Lodge though. I just adore the warm welcoming feel of the Wilderness Lodge during Christmas.

We caught a bus from The Grand Floridian to Downtown Disney. We had dinner at Earl of Sandwich (yum!) then did a little shopping. We caught a bus to the Swan around 9pm and relaxed in the room until bedtime.

Sounds like another fun day! So, you like it when they scream "We want the redhead" but does the redhead want them?

Karen

Sounds like a fun, yet relaxing day. I hope to make it to the Earl of Sandwich on our last day before we head home.

Rats. I knew I forgot to do something this trip. I wanted to try Earl of Sandwich, but never got there. I avoided Downtown Disney thinking it would be packed with Christmas shoppers.
