A friend of mine is taking his first trip to WDW later this month, camping at Ft. Wilderness in his giant RV. He's also a kayaker, and wants to know where in the WDW area can he and his friends put thier kayaks and canoes in the water for some slow boating.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

There is one place I know of it doesn't have a web site and it may nit be what they are looking for but if they rangthem the owners may be able tohelpthem out.It is called Way Fun Kayak and here's a bit about them

Way Fun Kayak Adventures

Basic Info
Take a guided tour through the untouched beauty of Florida in a kayak for a real back-to-nature experience. Relax and get some exercise as you paddle your way down Shingle Creek or Lake Butler. No engines means no noise - you can get very close to some of the wild residents before they even realize you're there. Don't worry if you're not experienced, the staff at WayFun will show you all you need to know.

It's a very enjoyable day if you like the outdoors and a chance to see what Florida looked like before the theme parks. Probably not a great idea for younger children.

Location: 1670 Sundance Drive, Saint Cloud, FL 34771
Telephone: 407 957 0071 (Call for pricing.)

Will,

Off the top of my head the first thing that comes to mind would be Wekiva Springs State Park in Apopka. It is about 40-45 minutes from WDW.

Your friend may also want to consider heading east to the intercoastal waterway area out on Merritt Island or Melbourne. About 1.5 hrs from WDW is the Oars & Paddles park in Brevard county. This is where many collegiate and high school paddlers come during the winter months for training. There are even international teams, mostly from Quebec in Canada. I can provide directions if needed - its actually pretty straightforward.

Finally, you or your friend may want to check out websites for Orange County Parks and Recreation or Osceola County Parks and recreation. You should be able to find information and locations for public lake access in the region.

does anyone know if wekiva springs rents kayaks? I haven't been there in years, but I remember how beautiful it is. I would love to kayak there but since we are travelling by plane, I won't be packing our kayaks!
