Kathryn & Charles, WDW wishes wedding, WP/GF 10/06/12!

Hi Kate! I'm sorry I've been absent - I just had to play catch up and let me tell you...you are cracking me up! I'm dying reading your reviews of everything, it's uh-AWESOME! :lmao:

I'm so ready to hear about your PS, ours is tomorrow! Yay!! I wish I had known you could request different cake flavors. I got on the boards too late to see how other brides have done it, and when I emailed them my PS questionnaire I asked about cake flavors and never got a response back. I guess it falls on me to follow up, but still :headache:

That is so sweet of you to travel to all your BM to try on dresses, I hope they appreciate that. And who cares what other people think, this is your show dangit!

I'll try not to be so absent from now on, can't wait to see more details

Oh.. thanks for the heads up!! I LOVE your grooms cake idea and a flat sheet cake decorated like that defeats the purpose!! That's a great idea about having it at the rehearsal dinner! We're having our rehearsal on property, but not through DFTW. I'll have to ask if they'll let us bring in our own cake! What cake company did you use? I've heard of "that's tasty too", did you use them or someone else?
Thanks so much for the heads up!
QUOTE]

Where are you having your rehearsal dinner? I've heard places like Ohana will let you bring in outside cakes but you might want to double check. And we did use It's Tasty Too. They were sooooo good! Since I'm local, I tasted a bunch of different places at bridal shows and went to several bakeries...not only did they taste the best, but their prices were the best!

I'm glad I found my way to your PJ! :) I think it's so neat that the Disney wedding was your fiance's idea! Your engagement ring is BEAUTIFUL. :lovestruc I love your bouquet inspiration pic, too! I can't wait to read more about your plans!

Thanks for letting me know about my link, it's fixed now!! That would be a thanks to my board posting illiteracy! Oops. I'm learning how to work these boards rather slowly Not much going on with my PJ right now though, next step is the picture posting lesson. I hope to figure that out soon so I can get some pics posted so stay tuned
YUP, back up and running! YAY! I'm still looking forward to your details and of course your pictures! The boards are a learning curve for sure, I'm still trying to figure it all too!

Ah! Kathryn! Your response is super helpful! I appreciate you putting the time in to write it. I didn't realize that you had to have all of that stuff done BEFORE the exact 12 month mark. It all makes sense now because our consultant told us we need to set up a phone conference with her for August or September to get ready for booking the date so it must be to discuss everything you talked about. You're the best!
Oh, yay! I am sooo glad it helped! :yay: The only reason I knew was because someone took the time for me. I'm just paying it forward! :) DISBoards ROCK!

HAHAHHAAH! I'm glad you like my rating system! Its sooooo helpful and will come in handy for later ratings! ;)
No need to apologize, hon... I'm so glad you're here and laughing! I LOVE to laugh and I'm happy when everyone laughs with me (sure beats them laughing AT me!)
You should be at your PS today!! I can't wait to hear ALLLLL about it when you get back.. This is me officially requesting a PS TR... PLEASSSEE... popcorn::
You're so right, it's MY SHOW! Poo-poo on the Nay-sayers! hehe
I hope you're having a good time eating cake even if its just the standard stuff. I'm sure its awesome anyway!

We are having the rehearsal dinner at Wolfgang Pucks in Downtown Disney. We wanted something on property (for those that won't have cars, but something that was also VASTLY different and more laid back than the reception. )I will definitely double check with them! That's a great idea! I've heard so many things about "Its Tasty Too" and it's just another excuse for more cake tasting! CAKE!!!!

I'm glad you found your way here too! Welcome fellow UK fan!!! :welcome: (and yay for signatures that include PJ links! hehe)
THANKS so much for your kind words about my ring and flowers. This PJ stuff is really a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I'm really enjoying seeing all your pics and planning too, esp the UK stuff! (btw, I LOVE picture sprees so keep 'em coming!) You've got to be getting excited! You're almost T minus 1 month!!

So, where are the updates from the BM session then? I will be waiting patiently for the updates....popcorn::

OK LADIES....
I finally got the time to write about my visit to DC. So without further ado, here is the report from my first Bridesmaid visit!

First, I have to say the Cherry Blossoms are soooooooo pretty! They just happened to be in peak bloom and they were so beautiful!

Besides being with my sister, her husband, my God Daughter, and those amazing Cherry Blossom trees, I'm sad to report the trip was mostly a disappointment.
Attention all brides who might be as dumb as me about fashion related things: When you go online and search for a particular dress, then click "find a retailer", it does NOT mean that said retailer has said dress!
I had lined up 6 appointments over two days with salons I THOUGHT had the dresses I wanted my MOH to try on!
This being the most important one!
dessy.jpg

Not one, I repeat NOT ONE of the scheduled salons had this dress!!
Now, this is partly my fault because I was ignorant. nevertheless...
:mad::mad::mad: Well, I know now! I feel so dumb that I didn't know this.
ANYWAY....
Good news is that we did find the other two dresses....
Here's a memory refresher.
images-1.jpg

and...

dessy2.jpg

The bad news is... (I'm looking for a "Meh minus" emoticon, and there just isn't one!:sad2:) Anyway, the bad news is that they were BOTH "meh minus" and therefore both definitely off the list!

That night I just had to go for sushi. I was getting really frustrated (more at myself because I just didn't plan well and we were wasting precious time!) and when I'm frustrated I need comfort food. I have two comfort foods. Pizza (when its physically been a long hard day) and sushi (when its been an EMOTIONAL long hard day!) Strange I know... but this was a sushi day for sure! We then made homemade red velvet cake and sat in front of the TV watching a good Disney flick with my God Daughter... PHEW...

We regrouped and headed out for day two....
We decided to make some different appointments for this day. Including a david's bridal (which I had been trying to avoid due to cookie cutter bridesmaid dresses).
However, of all the places we went, we actually had the most luck here. This is what we found:
dbsample.jpg

Of course as y'all know, it would be a deep navy and not this silver color. Also, if we went with these, it thought it would be nice to add something like this....

broachsmall.jpg

Maybe as a gift to my girls.

Even though we're going to keep looking for a dress, I had fun running around DC with my sister. We laughed and had a great time making fun of my stupidity. We also talked about family drama and I left feeling renewed and refreshed, albeit STILL without a bridesmaid dress...

NEXT STOP:
PS ON TUESDAY!!! We will be leaving on Monday and staying through Thursday! Both my parents are coming! :yay: This makes the trip more expensive for me, but I wouldn't want them to miss this part of the planning!
We're also going to Epcot Monday, and The Studios Wednesday, and MAYBE even a spring training game! oohhh.. I have the best uncle ever who would be responsible for that adventure! :)
I also called my planner and added all the flavors I wanted to add to our cake tasting thanks to MrsRomance who gave me a full run down on the available flavors. And I didn't look like an idiot doing it thanks to tric8783 who told me how it all works!!
DISBoards totally R-O-C-K in the U-S-A! (and I should note DISBoards also sometimes R-O-C-K in the U-K too!! I know there are some of you GB gals lurking around here!!)

DF just finished making all our dining reservations! We're trying some new places this trip! I'm soooo excited! :woohoo:

Don't worry gals! I'll take LOTS of pics!

So, where are the updates from the BM session then? I will be waiting patiently for the updates....popcorn::

LOL! I was writing my updates just as you were asking! :rotfl:
I had to work the graveyard shift last night so I had to run out before I got a chance to write about it. Sorry to keep you waiting!!
I love that you're following along!

Will let it slide this time......just don't keep a girl hangin' like that!

Sorry that the dress situation didn't pan out--I would've done the same thing though. I don't think it's too much of a leap to think that if it says that a store is a retailer they will have the item in stock. I will have to remember that when it comes time for me to start looking for our VR. Well, that and if I can get anyone to agree to stand up for me :confused3

And I would concur with the DIS rocking -- but since I'm an American living in the UK do I rock both or just one?

Aww, I'm sorry the dress day didn't go as planned. And I would've done the exact same thing, because, hey, that's how it works in regular stores! But at least you had fun and had laughs and had sushi.

I'm SO excited for your trip! :goodvibes Have your parents been down there before? (I always ask this, since my parents haven't) And where are you guys eating? Curious minds are curious! ;) (Rather, foodies love food and like to live vicariously!)

HAHA! I will do a better job of updating more quickly! Next time my announcement will go like this:
Ladies and Gentlemen welcome aboard flight 1234, I apologize for the late start today I had to finish posting on DISBoards!
Oh that would be hilarious!
Its ok we didn't find a dress, its gives me another excuse to go up there. I'm really glad I'm not the only one that assumed a retailer would have the dress we wanted tho. I was really feeling like a dummy.
Hm... let me think. An American, living in the UK.... I'm gonna say you rock them both! ;)

My parents have been to Disney, kinda. They took me there once when I was 3! It was the year Epcot opened. They hadn't been back since except for the site visit we did last year with DFTW. (We didn't go to any of the parks.... sacrilege I know, but we didn't have the time!)
So.... This is the first time they will have been to the parks, since I was 3!
Day one we're planning on Epcot.
I'm totally a foodie too!! If I said the food and wine festival in October didn't have a deciding factor on our wedding date, I'd be lying!! :)
We're planning to have lunch at the Pub in England then ----
You know, I think I'll write out my itinerary in a new post. I was typing away and realized how long it was getting and thought.. hmm.. that would be a good post! Thanks for the idea!

Hi Kathryn

Loved catching up with your PJ

Cant wait for your trip report for your planning session...

and yes DISboards rocks in the UK

Onwards and Upwards, and putting the dress shenanigans behind me. Its on to thinking about the PS!

Here is our itinerary!

Between now and Sunday: CLEAN THE HOUSE! OMG its a disaster! (Obviously, since I'm still typing, I haven't started THAT yet. :confused3)

Sunday:
My parents arrive in Atlanta from Chicago. They're staying with me that night. I just realized I have no dinner plans! I should remedy that!

Monday morning:
We're getting up at the butt crack of dawn (Why oh why are there no "butt crack" emoticons!?) to make an early flight to Orlando. They ride standby on my pass privileges, so fingers crossed there are seats available!
We're scheduled to arrive at 8:45am and we'll take the magical express to Pop Century. (We wanted to stay here because its in our room block. We're slowly making our way through all the hotels in the block! I'm really glad we're doing this because we wound up changing one of the hotels already! Changed from Coronado Springs to Port Orleans, French Quarter) If our rooms aren't available, we'll just leave our bags and head to the park.

EPCOT!
Soarin is FIRST! Then Space mountain, then Soarin again with a fast pass! :)
Lunch is tentatively going to be at the Pub in England!
Somewhere in here is our meeting with the potential photographer.
Also, we're planning to meet up with my uncle who lives in Tampa. He will be in the area so he's going to stop by Epcot and have some cocktails with us before dinner... AND we'll find out then if he was able to get us tickets to see a spring training game on Wednesday! He's the best!

Dinner in France at Les Chefs. Side note about this place: My parents took me there 30 years ago, and I just recently took them to Paris (the one on the other side of the pond. Or for Mrs Romance and kagsinbotley, the one on THEIR side of the pond! ;) ), so I thought this would be the perfect place for dinner.
Then Illuminations. (I've never seen it and neither have they!)

Tuesday:
9:00am: Meet Chrissy at the GF for the menu tasting! I couldn't think of a better breakfast choice!
1:00pm: Planning session with Chrissy at Franks. (the cake tasting, I couldn't think of a better lunch choice!)
Dinner is planned at downtown Disney at Cap'n Jacks!

Wednesday:
I have to put the folks on a plane back to Chicago because they both work on Thursday. Boo!
DF and I haven't decided on a park yet, since we're waiting to hear about the ball game. If DU (Dear Uncle! hehe!) wasn't able to get tickets, then maybe we'll head to Hollywood Studios since I've never been there, but we made reservations at Teppan Edo the hibachi place in Japan. DF says its a quick jump to Epcot from Hollywood Studios. As y'all know I'm a Disney newbie, so I'm following his lead on a lot of this. He hasn't led me astray yet!

Thursday:
DF and I might go to another park. Can I vote for "Soarin'"?! Of course I've never been on the rockin' roller coaster.. That might wind up being my new favorite. I hear everyone loves it. If we didn't get to Hollywood Studios on Wednesday, we might do that this day.
Then we fly back Thursday night.

That's the plan!! I'm sure it will turn out very different than planned, it always does!
D-I-S-NEY in the U-S-A!! (hmm.. admittedly that doesn't work as well as R-O-C-K, does it?! Well, y'all get the point!)

1. If I were on a flight and the pilot/captain(whatever they call themselves depending on what airline I'm on) gave the reason for the delay that they were on the DIS I would think that was a reasonable excuse! At least it would be something rather than 'we're delayed for some inexplicable reason which we're not going to tell you'! So, my vote is yes, you can be late due to updating your PJ

2. Good luck to your parents getting out of Chicago, we have never had good luck flying in or out of O'Hare -- so hopefully it's not there. Seriously, I'd pay more to have a connection in Timbuktu than fly through O'Hare airport!

3. Your itinerary sounds fantastic!! Illuminations....meh -- I'm a total Fantasmic! fan, so I'm not as bothered to miss that one TBH......I will duck in case anyone throws things at me!

4. I can not WAIT to hear all about the PS! Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly for you!

5. And I will just be :surfweb: for you to return to report back to us!!

Kate, the trip itinerary sounds FAB!! :thumbsup2 Doesn't really matter what the plans are, as long as you're at Disney, right!

OK, Soarin is my Mom's fav ride, and I love it too, but the Rockin Roller Coaster is awesome!!! :worship: I always make sure that I don't miss HS when I go to Disney just because of that roller coaster, and of course the Tower of Terror is great too if you love having the crap scared out of you and I do I guess because I never miss that one either.

The Rose and Crown Pub in the UK at Epcot is AMAZING! I might be a little biased since DF is Scottish, but oh man, British food is sooo good!!! The Shepards Pie YUM!!! Or the Sunday Roast with Yorkshire Pudding (not like Jello pudding - it's like a bread with gravy) so yummy!!! :cheer2:

And OMGosh, Illuminations, cherish it girl, it's the best fireworks display you will ever see!! :worship: It's mine and DF's favorite and our wedding song is actually going to be the song they play as you leave the park right after Illuminations. Beware, it makes me cry every time I watch it!! Make sure you have a Stella at the little outside kiosk where they sell beer or if you like sweeter stuff, try Strongbow cider, both are delish!! :goodvibes One more thing, if you get a chance to see the British band that plays in the courtyard at the back of the UK, they are great too! They play the Beatles and Queen, and other familiar favs, if you like that kind of music.

Ok, last but not least, the Port Orleans French Quarter is a very nice resort! Very laid back Louisiana like and the food is again, AWESOME!! :cheer2: They've just re-done a lot of the rooms there so hopefully you get one of the newer ones. This will be one of room block resorts along with the Pop unless we can get the Art of Animation resort that opens later this year.

I think I've rambled enough now :yay: and you got me all excited now so I'll shutup :goodvibes Have fun and I'm looking forward to all the details upon your return!! PS: I posted some pics finally, not sure if you've had a chance to view, but I plan to post wedding dress thoughts and BM dress thoughts as well this week! Stay tuned! popcorn::

I'm so determined to get down there one day for the Food and Wine Festival. It can't happen this year since I want Christmas time, but one day! *insert Scarlet O'Hara smiley here*

Yay Rose & Crown! We're going there with my parents the first night we get there, and my dad's super excited about "fish and chips from real British people". :lmao: (My dad's very proud of his English/Irish heritage) And Soarin'! I LOVE it. It makes me ridiculously homesick for my adopted state (I lived in CA for most of my 20s), but I'll always go on it. :goodvibes

Are you big on roller coasters? Doug loves them and he wasn't too impressed by the Aerosmith one. I watched the Pixar parade because I'm a wuss and don't do fast rides. Same thing with Tower of Terror. Last time I went on it, I recall screaming, "mother of god, I'm going to die" very loudly and having a number of people laugh at me. The good part is that I'm okay with sharing this story with people.

Ya know, I gotta tell you - I love when you post. You crack me up, and you just always have such high spirits to your posts, and they cheer me up. :goodvibes

5. And I will just be for you to return to report back to us!!

1. LOL! You're right we never tell passengers "real" information and I think that's sad. I think the modus operandi is the less you know the less you'll be scared. I think the opposite is true. I find passengers appreciate real information even if it isn't good news. Too bad you're never on my flights. I always try to give real information and why its important we're waiting or doing what we're doing the way we're doing it. Of course, you'd KNOW if you were on one of my planes because we'd be "delayed due to PJ update!"

2. This morning is not going well. They've missed two flights so far. I'm sending them through La Guardia. It looks the best from there and if they do get stuck there, well, I can think of worse places to be stuck! I was once stuck in Tokyo for 3 days! :scared1:

3. DANG! You're the first person I've ever heard say that! If you posted that on The Knot, you might have to duck, but no one will throw anything at you here.. Least not on MY THREAD! I'm eagle eye'ing all you potential throwers.. don't you dare throw that! Back.away.from.the.projectile! (Seriously, Why are there NEVER the emoticons I want. I'm so going to make my own set. I'm going to add "eagle eye'ing face" to the list along with "butt crack of dawn face"!)

4 & 5. Thanks so much! I will take lots of pictures and report back pronto!

Kate, the trip itinerary sounds FAB!! Doesn't really matter what the plans are, as long as you're at Disney, right!

OK, Soarin is my Mom's fav ride, and I love it too, but the Rockin Roller Coaster is awesome!!! I always make sure that I don't miss HS when I go to Disney just because of that roller coaster, and of course the Tower of Terror is great too if you love having the crap scared out of you and I do I guess because I never miss that one either.

And OMGosh, Illuminations, cherish it girl, it's the best fireworks display you will ever see!! It's mine and DF's favorite and our wedding song is actually going to be the song they play as you leave the park right after Illuminations. Beware, it makes me cry every time I watch it!! Make sure you have a Stella at the little outside kiosk where they sell beer or if you like sweeter stuff, try Strongbow cider, both are delish!! One more thing, if you get a chance to see the British band that plays in the courtyard at the back of the UK, they are great too! They play the Beatles and Queen, and other familiar favs, if you like that kind of music.

Ok, last but not least, the Port Orleans French Quarter is a very nice resort! Very laid back Louisiana like and the food is again, AWESOME!! They've just re-done a lot of the rooms there so hopefully you get one of the newer ones. This will be one of room block resorts along with the Pop unless we can get the Art of Animation resort that opens later this year.

I think I've rambled enough now and you got me all excited now so I'll shutup Have fun and I'm looking forward to all the details upon your return!! PS: I posted some pics finally, not sure if you've had a chance to view, but I plan to post wedding dress thoughts and BM dress thoughts as well this week! Stay tuned!

You bet as long as its Disney! I'm quickly becoming a fan and love it more each time I go. It seems to be the one place left on earth where customer service really matters. They really do what ever they do right.

I really haven't been, done, and seen enough at Disney to actually have a favorite yet. Of the ones I HAVE been on, Soarin' just rocks! UH-AWESOME! I love having the crap scared out of me on rides, so I'm thinking HS is a must stop for us this trip! ;)

Thats so sweet about DF and the Rose and Crown. I love that kind of food too. There's a place near my folks called The Claudaugh. That has the same kind of food... YUM YUM YUM in my TUM TUM TUM!
How cool about the illuminations music! What's a Stella and where is this beer stand? I'm sure DF will know, but I've never heard of such a thing! Sounds great!

The hotels: We did a property tour when we were on our site visit. (SOO recommended if you're unfamiliar with the resorts like I am!) We just loved Port Orleans and the renovated rooms are fantastic!! Its a great price for what you get, and I LOVE that you don't have to walk a mile to get to your room like some other resorts. We weren't able to get the Art of Animation, but we knew it was coming and REALLY wanted it. Guess we're just getting married too soon! :) Our LOA had to be in before Art of Animation was an option. :sad2: I really hope y'all get that one!
For our other room block hotels, we wound up choosing: GF, Contemporary, Port Orleans, and Pop. Honestly we thought most people would stay at Port Orleans or Pop, but most people are either not in our room block at all, or at the GF. PEOPLE! :sad2: j/k, I'm just glad people are coming to our little shin-dig!
You can never ramble too much! I love your rambling and I love that you're here following along. Btw, you can see I just rambled on and on about my hotel block!
I said this on your thread, but I'll say it again (for the third time cause obviously I'm excited to see what you're thinking) I can't wait to see your dress ideas!

That's awesome! Gotta be proud of that Irish heritage. I'm 75% Irish! Fish and chips from REAL British people!? :rotfl: Only at Disney. Love it!
Soarin' rock. S-O-R-IN in the U-S-A! :) Cali gal, huh? What a beautiful state! I can see why that ride would make you homesick! It makes me homesick and I've never lived there! Man the smell of those oranges!

:love::love::love::love::love: :love:Roller coasters! I grew up in Ohio and we had two major roller coaster parks within a few hours from the house. Needless to say, we went ALL the time! I'm an adrenaline junkie tho so its right up my alley! :rolleyes1
OMG! That's so hilarious about your ride on the Tower of Terror! :rotfl: I may just scream that when I'm there just to actually see the faces of the people around me. Then I'm going to add that emoticon to the list! "Laughing at the crazy woman screaming Mother of God I'm going to Die Face"

HAHA you're too sweet. Thanks! But its you that cracks me up! I literally LOL'ed and spit coffee out of my nose when I read your Tower of Terror story! Btw, I'm glad you're good with sharing that story, because the subsequent emoticon that comes from it will be totally worth it! :)

You grew up in OH....so were you closer to Cedar Point or King's Island? We were about a 2ish hour drive from Cedar Point and I miss that!! I do love WDW but for coasters that place really is at the top of the list IMO!

Thanks for not throwing things...I do like Illuminations, but for me Fantasmic! just has the edge.

And......if you're lucky and you have Fantasmic! for your wedding you may get lucky like us and get to do this:

Just sayin......:confused3

I grew up in Columbus, so really we were equidistant to either. I liked Cedar Point probably the best. That Raptor ride beats them all! Y'all were north of Cedar Point right, in MI? We were practically neighbors! (from a worldly perspective, that is! ;) )

Oh right, I meant to comment on that, and forgot.. what is Fantasmic? I'll have to ask DF if he's seen it /done it / been on it...? He's out flying the friendly skies today tho. How can I get them for my wedding?!

:rotfl: I LOVE your pic!!! The cutest part is that little boy scared poop-less and his little sister who's absolutely lovin' it! :cutie:

OMG Raptor was totally my favorite ride!! I knew I liked you for a reason ;)

Fantasmic! well, it just is! Here is a link to a video on youtube -- they've refurbed it since that was shot and it's a lot better!! It's long, so make sure you have a bit of time before you start it up!

And the 'little boy' is my nearly 40 year old husband :rotfl2: and you're right he was scared poop-less!!
