How do you know this? They would have to shoot 7/24 if they have all those retakes (15 X 9 people). How do you retake the kids running around? And if they do retakes, why do we see Mady's bad sides? Why not just retake it?

I think lots of people (including me) are really sick of the "woe is me" "poor me, all alone" Kate.

To me Kate really comes off with a sense of entitlement.

What was she planning on doing when she knew she was carrying six babies? Did she think - oh great I'll do a reality show and make money off my kids? She must have had some plan for them to support the kids.Whether anyone wants to admit it or not Kate just loves the life of luxury. IMHO it seems like she is not willing to give it up for anything. If she can't make it on her own she'll just keeping doing shows making money off the kids.

I've said it before that DH and I supported all our children without any help from anyone. We chose to have a large family, and chose to support them and live a normal life. Kate doesn't seem to want a normal life - she's really bought into the whole "I'm a celebrity" persona. Do you ever think the "paps" would stop following them around if Kate would just stay out of the spotlight for awhile?

Actually by some accounts that's exactly what she planned. She was marketing her family before and soon after the tups were born. This was not all by accident. She was supposedly obsessed with higher order multiples and the attention associated with them. She was in her early 20s, married less than a year and working actively with a fertility doctor. Then she did it all over again two or three years later with a different doctor. Not typical. She has never beat around the bush with her sense of entitlement. She said society owes support to her brood because modern medicine allowed six babies at once. This has been quoted time and time again.

Good grief. Most people don't keep reminding people over and over that they must work to put food on the table. My opinion has and will always be that Kate says that she must work to provide for her children in a manner that suggests that they would be destitute if she didn't. Of course she works to provide the basic needs for her family, but does it have to be so dramatic all the time?! Really? I do it all alone (which she doesn't), to literally put food on the table, and whatever else she says in the interviews. I just read something from one of the entertainment rags on my Twitter feed where a "source" says Kate is tired of working her fingers to the bone and would like Jon to get a job. I have no doubt that she would LOVE for him to get a job, because WE have all said the SAME thing! But Kate's working her fingers to the bone? Please. She's busy do a job she enjoys, but hardly doing manual labor (which is what that phrase suggests to me).

Sooo..does Dr Brody know that they have up to 15 retakes of each scene? I have read this article, and I don't get how he or you know this. As a psychiatrist has he been on the set, talked with the kids, and their parents? If he's talking about the Christmas scene, we've discussed that a lot and other's have apparently messed with their kids minds on the Dis, by telling them a different day was Christmas. But that's not an everyday, or often thing. I'd have to know a lot more...guess I'll wait for Mady's book.
These reality shows haven't been around long enough for most people to know the ending.

ITA! Jon got fired because he was searching the internet all day trying to find someone to film the birth and afterwards. They started out doing speaking engagements at churches for "love offerings" and begging for money on a website. When TLC went full force ahead they started with the freebies and trips. We all remember the vow renewal in Hawaii.

This is not at all true. It was not a fan that said they would rather they lived in a box than be on TV. If the opportunities die off, I can hope she has saved a lot of the money. Yes, this has been quoted/misquoted over and over. This was in reference to when she asked to keep the nurse longer for the 6. She has not been on social welfare since. Society has not supported her tups. She has had the show, and has worked independently on other jobs (that some here hope she fail at, even though the kids aren't a part of them). Good for her.

Our church often has speakers, and they all get love offerings. If you don't want to give, no one twists your arm.

I know its hard to believe, but do you really think that every shot the camera takes is perfect?? We recently had an "extreme home makeover" show and the buzz among the volunteers was why do they keep shooting and doing all these retakes?? Even a child in a wheelchair was forced to retake a scene until the mother stepped in and said enough. Everyone has their opinion on these reality shows--believe what you want!

Nope, I didn't say that. But I also didn't say that they do 15 retakes. I haven't a clue..but I do know if they did a lot of them, they wouldn't have time to tape the show. Also, some would just be impossible to retake.

And nobody said they would be..just some said they think that is what they think Kate says. Not everyone agrees that that is what she is saying. Last I knew, it was not against the law to be afraid that you would run out of money, or even to work hard and live nicely. I just adopted out two kittens to someone that would make Kate's home look like a shed. Both parents work, not because they have to, but because they want to, and the kids are in day car from 7 am til 6 pm. Doesn't make them bad parents. They did ask if I would discount the kittens, since they were taking two (I did). Guess money was tight this week LOL.

What a thing to say, when looking at Kate's lifestyle vs. the lifestyles of people who really do have to struggle to make ends meet.

On the other thread, it's been mentioned over and over that there are many changes (big and small) that could be made to the Gosselin lifestyle to make it more affordable. But, those reasons are generally met with comments like, "they deserve that lifestyle, etc. and why should they have to give it up?" and I don't get that. Why is Kate Gosselin held to a different standard of living than we are?

Because she stated - quite emphatically during one of her couch interviews - that her children "deserve everything handed to them on a silver platter".. As much as I was used to Kate's off-the-wall statements way back when I still watched the show now and then, that was a real jaw dropper even for me! The only thing I can see that has changed since then is that she now thinks she deserves life on a silver platter too.. All she has to do to acquire it is to keep her kids working..

Kate uses the "I must work" mantra in some form or fashion nearly every time the camera is on her.

There's a difference in giving your children the best and giving them the best you can AFFORD. It's hard to buy into Kate earning (reportedly) $500,000 and saying she's having trouble putting food on the table, no matter what the context.

She has whined and complained to the point where most people are beginning to view her as "the boy who cried wolf".. She's simply not credible anymore and it grates on the nerves of people who take issue with her living off of her children..

Jon pays 22,000 a month in child support. And if he weren't Kate would be on the Today show telling everyone.

well, it takes the 'I do it all alone and pay for it all alone' spiel down a notch. That is her hook, but it's not entirely true is it?

There will never be enough for Kate. And those kids will be on tv earning for her until something forces the end of the show..

Unless she can be successful on her own, I'm afraid you are 100% correct.. Those children will be her meal ticket for as long as she can keep them in front of the cameras..

The judge set aside that $$ during the divorce to go to the kids support- I do not believe Jon is "paying" it (as in he's working and contributing- he's contributing from what they had already made).

Regardless of the source, the money is still being doled out for child support and further discredits Kate's "woe is me" financial issues..

jon is still under contract with TLC. They have said so. Jon agreed to let the kids be filmed and TLC is paying him for that. Is that 'working'? Does it matter? It's an income.

if Kate says that she has to work to literally put food on the table, then (IMO) she needs to take a serious look at her finances and make changes. That's a pretty drastic statement.

But the reality is, she's working to afford her lifestyle. there's a huge difference, IMO.

I don't care if she works. That's her choice. What I cannot stand is the suggestion that they're one step from starvation if she doesn't work. THAT is what bothers me almost as much as the children being back in front of the camera.

Do I know if there's money in savings? No idea.

If there isn't, shame on both parents..

Kate - if you're out there reading this - please find a job that you can be successful at without selling your children, their privacy, and their childhood down the river.. The twins are already showing significant signs of cracking under the pressure.. I'm sure that if you set your mind to it - which you have repeatedly said you're so good at - you could find that great career that you have such an overwhelming desire for that might even keep you in the lifestyle you have become so accustomed to.. Just PLEASE don't do it at the expense of those 8 little children.. They deserve so much better..

That's a pretty harsh phrase, don't you think? Just because people don't agree with her using her children for her own financial gain doesn't mean they "hate" her.. I've yet to see anyone on this thread - or the other - wish her physical harm; make death threats against her; etc..

It's the same type of gross exaggeration that Kate herself would use - such as describing how tough it is to "do it all alone"..
