I think it is indeed time that the MJ threads ended!
When certain people don't agree with the posts, they go and begin another thread looking for like minded others!

I think that is a little desperate and perhaps 'they' are a sandwich short of a picnic!

Kate is not a bad mom, really. However, she is 'hard'. Many also believe that she thrusts her children too far into the public eye and are shocked that she has not decided to back off, at all. In contrast, MJ took great efforts to shield his kids from the spotlight.

I fear that if you were to compare just the parenting of KG and MJ and ignore all of their other faults (and good works), MJ might certainly come out on top.

I agree with you. I believe MJ knew exactly how horrible being in the limelight was...it pretty much ruined the guy's life. Kate Gosselin should learn from the mistakes and lives' of others in the limelight but obviously hasn't or chooses not too.

I agree she was mean to Jon and Jon was also mean to her. For years I think that's how they "related" and "got along" even making fun of it on a few shows. However, it grew and got worse and more serious. You could almost see where the kidding stopped and the real meanness between the 2 took over.
I dunno, MJ seemed to have a heart of gold and seemed very kind to most people. I just don;t think the 2 can be compared personality wise.

This Dis has clearly gone over the edge for real this time. The insanity of the last election and the aftermath is starting to become clear to me. More then half the people that post here are one taco short of a combination.

It takes a while to realize that, and to realize there are some threads you just need to stay away from. Welcome. You are not alone in your thinking.

For both Michael Jackson and Kate Gosselin, we see what the cameras and the people editing the film want us to see. I had never seen some of the footage of Michael and his kids that people now have on youtube, but he looks like a very loving father. I was amazed that he had his two year old son eating birthday cake, chocolate no less, without a bib. Kate still has her 5 year olds in them.

I think a big difference is that Michael is famous because of Michael. Kate is "famous" because of her kids. Michael, as one of his brothers said at the memorial, wanted to be "normal" sometimes and be able to go out without being noticed. Kate seems to do everything in her power to be noticed.

I've watched J&K from the beginning and I think many people have gotten annoyed that she keeps saying how hard it is to raise and support 8 kids, claiming that they watch their pennies and cut coupons, yet they are living in this million dollar mansion and jetting around the country on deluxe vacations. Sure, in the beginning it was probably hard, but once the freebies started rolling in, and your getting paid for one episode what many people don't make in a year, you need to quit your complaining.

Kate Gosselin is not even close to being an unfit parent and from what little we have seen of MJ and his kids, he loved them and they him very much.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. Her "job" is her children. She is setting herself up to be judged on her parenting. Michael's job was music. He tried to keep his family life private.

IMO, neither deserves parent of the year awards. But, the important thing is Jackson's children looked happy when they were with him and obviously felt loved.
