I am not a fussy PJ person. the facts will expand depending on my mood and if i feel like typing but here goes
Travis and I met 4 years ago, I was in high school and he was in college. Eventually, Travis began telling me desires and thoughts, and over time, we realized that Travis's one desire was to become female. Torin (her new name) was adopted shortly after, and now we are a same-sex couple. I always say I followed the heart and soul, and not the body.
Our engagement was more out of - well we probably should get married after this long and before you have to go to your job in alaska 6 months out of the year.
so we picked out rings and decided innovative ways to give them to each other. Torin put my ring in the box, wrapped it in a giant ball of string, and tossed it by my feet. When I started to throw it to the cat, I was advised I might want to investigate further. It was fitting being my name is Kat, and well I thought it was cute.
On christmas day, I inflated 50 balloons, and Torin had to pop them one by one to find which one had the real ring. I had put little rings and toys from vending machines so that it wouldnt be easy.
Then we went to find wedding rings. I walked into Tiffany, thinking I would get a one mm band of diamonds and leave it at that. 2mm didnt look right no matter what I did. I hadnt decided on a one mm yet, then just for fun, I asked to try on this huge 3mm shared setting band. I saw the two rings together, and almost fainted. And no, I am NOT kidding. I was mezmerized, and It then went home with me. (the rings can be seen on the engagement ring forum)
Torin has yet to find hers --picky picky!
Dress shopping!
I purchased a Maggie Sottero for my fall wedding (the paper) and then an Allure gown for the DFTW. its posted under the post your wedding dress thread. I found a sixpence for my shoe at davids bridal, along with a semi belle dress for one of my bridesmaids, and a sexy mermaid cocktail for another bridesmaid.
The general plan:
Over fall break we will go to a state with same sex marriage rights and get married. We will then have the wedding in december.
Guests:
four of our best friends and their other halves will be there, along with at least 5 parent/grandparents. depending, there might be up to 25 if the whole family comes, but being it is so close to xmas, I doubt we will have many past that.
Colors/theme:
The wedding is beauty and the beast theme. colors are champagne, ivory and red.
Each bridesmaid is allowed to wear a different dress provided its the same red. I wanted them to be able to wear it after the ceremony.
To celebrate Torin's italian heritage, we are having our reception at the Venetian Room, at the Royal Caribe. they have a beautiful grand staircase, and lovely decor. Very good food. with appetizer, salad/soup, main course, and dessert, its about 100 per guest.
Thats all for today! - sweet dreams~!
