Linda—My older sister
Michael—My brother-in-law
Rob—My 12 year old nephew
Catie—My 10 year old niece

At last my Disney trip was here! It seemed like we started planning it a million years ago (we initially booked our trip back in January). After changing our dates and hotel, we finally decided to book a Fairytale package at the Polynesian for August 13-20. I would be staying an additional three nights at the Beach Club so I could do some behind the scenes tours.

I left my house at 9:00am to head to Logan Airport for my 11:25am Song Airlines flight to Orlando. I was flying alone because my sister and her family had taken the Amtrak car train to Orlando a week and a half earlier. They were driving in from Fort Myers that afternoon, and were planning on meeting me at the Polynesian at about 4:00pm. I arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare, so I walked all over the terminal waiting for my flight to start boarding. Going through security was a bit of an ordeal because anything that uses a plug or battery had to be removed from my bag. After digging out my cell phone, two cameras, a portable DVD player, and Palm pilot, I made a mental note to pack them together for the flight home so I wouldn’t have to dig for them.

The flight takes off on time. I am seated in the 9th row, which is an exit row. The plane loads at the 9th row, so I had about four feet of leg room in front of me. Life is good. The leather seats aren’t the most comfortable seats I’ve ever sat on in a plane, but that’s OK. I’m going to Disney World. The “talent” (Song’s word for their crew) on the flight was very friendly. They cracked jokes throughout the flight, and were very attentive to the passengers. They sold food on the plane, ranging in price from $2 for chips or candy to $9 for a chicken caesar salad. I got a fruit and cheese plate for $4 that included four chunks of cheese, some crackers, and some grapes.

My flight arrived in Orlando at 2:25, just a few minutes late. Jerry from Tiffany Towncar was waiting for me at baggage claim. This was my third trip with Tiffany, and they really do a wonderful job. Jerry was a fantastic driver, and very helpful and friendly. It took forever for my luggage to come off the plane. It took 40 minutes for my bags to get to baggage claim. After a quick stop at Publix, it was off to the Polynesian.

My sister and her family were running late, so I went ahead and checked in. I had requested a room in Tokelau, and they honored our request. We were in room 1910, a first floor room with a patio with two chairs and a table. Our room was big and comfortable. There were two queen-sized beds, a day bed, a large amiore, a table with two chairs, and a wicker arm chair. Our room showed no signs of wear and tear. As an added bonus, our garden view room actually has a sideways view of the lagoon and the Grand Floridian. We were also facing the construction on Hawaii, but it wasn’t too much of a distraction.

After settling in to the room, I finally reach my sister on her cell phone and realize that they are about 10 minutes away from the resort. I wait for them with leis at the bus stop. They park the car, and I show them to our room. They all love it, and my brother-in-law is thrilled with the lagoon view, as the entire time we were planning, he was asking if we could get a lagoon view without spending extra money for it.

The kids take a quick dip in the quiet pool while my sister gets settled in the room. We grab a quick bite at Captain Cook’s (chicken sandwiches and burgers) before heading to the monorail to the Magic Kingdom at 7:00. We planned to take the train to Frontierland to ride on Splash Mountain. While we were on the train, it started pouring. We waited for the storm to let up, and decided we would hold off on Splash Mountain. We went over to the Pirates of Caribbean. Rob and Catie were initiated as pirates by Christopher, a very funny cast member at Pirates. The rain finally stopped, so we went over and rode on Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain. We then went on the Haunted Mansion.
We also went on It’s A Small World, and found the catch phrase for our trip because every trip needs a really good catch phrase. In the last room where they have the flowers that say goodbye in different languages, we saw one on the left that had us in hysterics. I can’t remember how the spelling on the flowers was, but if you pronounced it phonetically, it said, “Say what the crap.” So for the entire trip, whenever we said goodbye to each other, we would say, “Say what the crap.”

At the end of the evening, we decided to squeeze in a ride on Winnie the Pooh. We wound up getting stuck on the ride right after the bouncing with Tigger, and sat in our honey pot for close to 15 minutes until a cast member came along and walked us off the ride. My brother-in-law was annoyed because the ice cream shop closed while we were stuck on Winnie the Pooh, and we couldn’t get an ice cream.

We went back to the Polynesian, and settled for ice cream sandwiches, and went to crash in our room.

Boy, I didn't have that kind of trouble in security, and I expected it. Flew down the same day. I had a cell/palm device, four cameras and a laptop. The only thing they looked at was the laptop and that was DH pulled it out in anticipation.

Sounds like you had quite a productive evening in MK! We must have been leaving just as you were arriving (after getting up at 3:30/4:00am) and couldn't get on much because of the lines. Everyone must have cleared out with the rain.

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing!!!!

I have yet to make it through Logan Security without the darn alarm going off. Everyone in my family has grown used to it and now we line up so that I always go through last and they can collect my bags while I'm getting my feet checked. *Note to self: start wearing a sports bra, with no underwires, when traveling.

I know exactly the sign you are talking about on IASW... That is the only reason I go on it anymore...... Just for the laugh at the end:)

Thanks for the info on Song. If we are able to go in December, we will probably be flying them (I still think of it as Delta Express).
