We leave two weeks from tomorrow and our first day is at AK. Please confirm if we can take our shoes off during the Kali ride. I thought I read somewhere that you can no longer do this. I hope this isn't true. If so, what have you done to keep your shoes/socks dry during ride? What if you arrive to the ride without your shoes on? Any problem with that?

Next, we will be at AK on Nov 26th and it will be open until 8pm. What is the time for the last Safari ride? What time is the sun going down in Florida right now?

Thanks for the help.

From the last time I rode Kali you could take your shoes off, I'm not sure if thats still aloud though. And I don't see any problem with taking your shoes off in line, although i've never tried it so I don't know.
And the sun sets around 5:30 give or take a a few minutes, I did read somewhere that if its dark they close the safari early.

Nope you are not aloud to take off your shoes during this ride. There is a sign thats says not too and I witnessed someone getting told to put their shoes back on.

there is a bar about shin high if you can reach it you can put your feet there. Thats what I did. My shoes didn't get wet.

Not sure about the answer to your second question sorry

You cannot enter the ride without shoes. When I attempted to take mine off once I got on the ride, I was asked to put them back on. Like 3mickeyandme, I just put my feet as high as I could on that center storage area bar. Didn't get too wet. My husb usually wears his Tevas the days we go to AK to avoid soggy shoes. I hate having wet sneakers. However, the rule is understandable and for our own safety.

Just there last Thursday-must wear shoes. We always get soaked and end up buying t-shirts at the little cart where you exit Kali(good WDW planning);last safari was posted as 4:45 last week. I would try to go early or fast pass if necc.

I just rode Kali last week, and I was very disappointed. I admit I was wearing a poncho, but did not need it. There is only one place I could see where you might get wet, and only two people on our raft got wet at all. I've gotten more wet at some drinking fountains than I did on this ride.

Unfortunately I did get wet, soaking wet on Kali River Rapids! But I don't actually remember my shoes being wet, it was mostly my back, thighs and behind! If you are the couple with your back to the one place where that water is coming, you will get soaked!

I can't see any reason why you couldn't take your shoes off, just put them in the middle with your bag or if you have a backpack just slip in a pair of cheap light flip flops and wear those instead.

Hope you have a great holiday!!!

I would suggest getting a cheap pair of sandals or flip-flops and putting them on before you get in line. You can put your regular shoes in a backpack and put them in the contianer (sorry can't think of a better word) in the middle of the raft to keep them dry. I guess you could just put them in there even without being in a backpack.

You can get the really cheap kind of flip flops that a lot of people use in public showers for a buck or two at WalMart. They are not heavy to carry around in a backpack and you can just throw them away after you get done.

I just change into a pair of water shoes or flip flops just before getting in line and I carry my sneakers and socks and stow them in the center compartment during the ride.
