Does anybody know if they ease off the waterworks in the winter? This is our first December trip, and we're going in early December. I'm from Houston, and the weather is just as fickle as Orlando; some years, we have 80-degree Christmases, and some years, we'll have cold (40-degree) winters. (Yes, that is cold for us. LOL.) Thus, I want to be prepared!

I am not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure that you should plan on getting TOTALLY SOAKED on KRR regardless of when you ride it. I think the water is heated though.

I know Splash Mountain they reduce the cannons but not sure about here. But any water ride I would figure on getting very wet.

Kali in December- water does not seem to slow down. I'm usually the rider that gets completely soaked and I have not noticed a difference in soakage from May VS Dec. I'll be riding again in early DEC this year to test this out again. I wouldn't want to be inaccurate.... :)

On our December trips if it is cooler, we wear ponchos for Kali and Splash. You can just bring the dollar ones and keep them in your purse...and I also have a big ziplock bag folded in my purse to shove my purse in to protect my cell phone, camera etc. If you hold your feet up on Kali so they don't get wet, you will be mostly fine. And if someone points and laughs before you get on the ride don't worry about it...in our experience when you get off the ride that same now-soaked and cold person will point to you and tell the rest of their family "We should have done that...Why didn't we do that?"- we've had that happen about every time!

For our early December trip we made our kali and SM FPs the third choice for mid afternoon. I'm hoping for warm temps because I know I'll be the one who gets soaked! :)

We've ridden in November & December and the sprays always seem to be on full blast for us! But we always wear ponchos on Kali River Rapids.....don't care how silly we look! It's no fun walking around soaked right through-if you know what I mean! Been there- done that!

I never wear a poncho on Kali ... For me the whole point of the ride is to get wet. That's also why I won't bother doing it if it isn't warm
out that day.
But even if they turn down the spray, I don't see how they can turn down the splash .,.. So someone is getting soaked in each raft no matter what

As long as the temperature is over 70 degrees, i plan on Kali in December! :cool1::thumbsup2 I always bring a change of clothes and a small towel....

I skip it when it's chilly and being from New England that's when it's below about 70 and nice and sunny!

I agree. I only rode it once (beginning of Dec) and didn't realize how wet you can get. Some people got wet but I was in one of about four seats that got soaked. I mean I might as well have jumped in the river. Luckily I don't tend o stay at the park long and left right after that. Also I drove myself so I didn't have the assuredly unpleasant situation of everyone on the Disney bus staring at me.

We started skipping kali during our thanksgiving trips!! Rode it one time in late nov, and ended up sick as a dog rest of trip!!

:sad1:

I don't even ride it in the summer, don't enjoy being soaked head to toe and the ride is meh.

I have it scheduled with FP+ mid afternoon (2-3 pm) right as we are leaving the park for a rest. That way it should be the warmest part of the day and even if we are a bit uncomfortable when finished we are on our way to our car, anyway...:thumbsup2 Obviously, if it's chilly we will switch our FP+ to something else!

Agreed 100%. We never understand the persons getting on the water rides with ponchos. It defeats the purpose of riding the rides in my family's opinion. The biggest thrill for the water rides is the threat of getting wet. The rides themselves are really nothing to be desired.

Agreed, while everyone obviously has a right to do as they wish, I personally wouldn't go on the water ride if I didn't want to get wet. Take the water away and there really isn't much sense to the ride.

Oh we still get wet....we just don't get soaked through! We still find Kali a lot of fun. We don't wear ponchos on Splash Mountain.
