Never been on Kali because it's usually on refurb when we're there, although it happens to be up for part of our upcoming trip. How wet do you get on the ride, and do they do anything during the cooler winter months to minimize how drenched you get (e.g., turning off cannons or other things that might spray or dump water on you)?

I rode kali only once. I got soaked to the bone and sicker than a dog... and that was in February. We had no idea it was that sort of ride, although in retrospect, the 'stow your belongings so they don't get wet' thing should have been a clue, along with our fellow ride goers wearing rain gear from head to toe... Yeah. It'll be wet.

Totally depends on where you sit. One person can get drenched another just kind of wet.

I guess you could wear a poncho.

Just stand out in front and watch the people coming off the ride. That gives you the best indication of how wet you will be at the end.

Much like the sign reads: You will get wet.
Odds are that you will get VERY wet.
Decent chance that you will be miserably drenched. (Our whole raft last time)
Very very rarely does one ever escape damp or less.

My husband and daughter were wearing ponchos and still got very wet. This is on our never again list. Wasn't even a fun ride. You might as well stand and let some one pour buckets of water over you. Same experience

I actually prefer the Popeye's River Barge ride at Universal to this. It is the same ride but longer and better.

Kali often goes down for refurb this time of the year. Be sure to check the refurb schedule if it's one of the reasons you are going to AK.

My DD and I got SOAKED on Kali. We are both not too keen on riding again!

I've been in January and February. The first time I went in January I made the mistake of going on Kali and got soaked. It was a freezing cold day, I hadn't brought any other clothes and ended up squelching back to the hotel to get changed. I now won't do any water rides in winter because it's just not worth it. (Note - it's entirely possible to ride Kali and not get wet at all, but you're taking a risk).

I was there in December and my dd and I got soaked to the bone and were miserably wet and cold. We were a party of 9 in the raft; others got lightly sprayed, but 2 of us were drenched. It was awful and I'd never ride again.

I think you might be spared with a poncho, but the way the water entered the raft, you might not.

I saw women and girls in the ladies room taking off their clothing trying to dry it with the hand dryers and lots of people buying towels, clothing, and blankets to warm themselves due to being wet.

Thanks for the insight, all -- sounds like unless it is an unseasonably warm day, we're going to be skipping this one. Will have to plan a summer trip some time to take it in!

Good decision.

IMO it's a boring ride totally not worth the soak.:crazy2:

We have ridden it many times in January in fact one trip we rode 4 times back to back. Yes we came out soaked. But bein from north east wi there have onlyrics been a few times it was too cool for us to mind being wet

We rode in August and I got soaked - like wringing my clothes out soaked. It was a hot day and I was still miserable. My clothes did not dry quickly with the humidity and then we made the mistake of seeing Nemo and I FROZE inside in the AC. It was a once and done for me - no need to ride it ever again.
