Brother is a owner at Kadini and recently came back from their first trip "home".

While he enjoyed the resort, he did mention that it smelled of animals (when sitting on balcony of SV room), but you got used to it after a day or two. :rotfl:

Thought never really crossed my mind. Now given the week he was there in Oct it was mid 90's every day so maybe that played into it. I guess it makes sense as animals do smell. Guess the thought never crossed my mind because it is Disney. Thinking about it I don't remember AK park smelling of animals.

We are SSR/BLT owners but trying to plan our trip for next fall. Was thinking of trying out AK but DW will not go for it if smells of animals.

Figured I'd ask here as I don't always agree with brother's opinions on things, especially Disney related. ;)

We were there for 5 nights in September...also in the 90s...and didn't smell any of the animals.:confused3 I'd say...go and enjoy!

We went over to AKV to have dinner at Jiko's last November. The lobby or Jiko's didn't smell of animals. Now when we went outside(just off the lobby) to look at the animals, yes it did smell. And it wasn't 90 last Thanksgiving.

Now we've not stayed at AKV, but it might be an issue if you are on your balcony of a SV room. We'll probably get there own day, but the boys think it's too remote, we see animals at the zoo(13 and 8) and DH is allergic to heavily themed resorts.

I've stayed at Kidani in June on the third floor and didn't notice any smell. We did see a couple of workers in the morning whose job consisted of "pooper scooping".

we were at Kidani a week ago and had a savanah view, didn't smell anything while on our balcony.

We have never experienced an animal smell with savanna view rooms. We have experienced a fairly nasty smell there from the natural fertilizer that they put on the foliage which lasts most of a day when they apply it (and used elsewhere including AK and at least some other hotels)

I've stayed at Jambo and Kidani and never noticed any animal smells .... that is unless you count the smell of cooked bacon wafting up from the Mara! :rotfl:

We were at Kidani the first week of October when temps were in the mid 90's, and we never smelled any animals and we had a Savannah View room. We've also stayed at Jambo multiple times and never smelled any animals.

We have stayed at Kidani and Jambo and have never noticed and animal smell from the savannah balconies.

Don't worry about it. Just enjoy!!

The only place at either lodge I've noticed any animal smell is out near the spa area at Jambo. There is a flamingo area there that does have a zoo like scent to it. I've never noticed anything from the balcony though.

We stayed at Kidani October 17-23rd in a first floor SV room. We had those long horned cattle pretty much parked infront of out building all week long along with some zebra and giraffes. Not once did I smell the animals and I was on our balcony a lot.

We stayed there at the end of May/beginning of June. My boys asked to eat their pop tarts every morning on the balcony so that they could watch the animals. If it would have had a smell, they certainly would not have been able to eat their breakfast. There were no foul scents whatsoever.

The only place I have smelled animals at the AKL resort is the flamingo pond out by Jambo's pool. That is nasty!! Other than that one area, no animal smells were to be found during any of my stays at Jambo or Kidani - certainly not from the room balconies.

Now - what the animal in the bed next to you smells like is a whole other experience!
:lmao:

We were just at Kidani last week- 1 BDRM SV, 3rd floor, no animal smell at ALL. But, definitely did see them throwing down fertilizer on the ground one morning and was able to smell that that day. But not from our room. From the common areas closer to the ground.

Kidani is a beautiful, peaceful resort. Incredibly relaxing. So glad it is one of our homes!!

I think we can all agree that certain parts of WDW omit different smells. There's the smell of Main St. U.S.A., there's the smell of the queue within Pirates, there's a specific smell coming from inside a Bug's Life.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge does have a specific smell; especially out towards the savanna. To me it adds to the theming of the resort.
