FYI to owners of these Camcorders. I received this in an email today and called JVC. This is great news - hopefully now my camcorder will be fixed.
We are pleased to inform you that JVC is offering free repair of the
mechanism assembly for certain "GR" model series JVC mini digital
camcorders purchased in the United States during calendar years 2000
through 2002 upon presentation of valid proof of purchase, with a
warranty of 30 days for labor and 90 days for parts on all work
performed. In addition, if the camcorder is determined by JVC to be
"unrepairable" due to issues associated with the mechanism assembly,
JVC will replace it with a comparable unit.
VC will also reimburse consumers for certain expenses incurred in
repairing the mechanism assembly of such camcorders. If you have
already paid for a repair of the mechanism assembly of a "GR" model
series JVC mini digital camcorder purchased in the United States
during calendar years 2000 through 2002, JVC will reimburse you, upon
presentation of proof of purchase and documentation confirming you
incurred the expense, up to $150, provided the repair was performed by
a JVC-authorized service center.
More information about this repair program (and the steps you must take
to participate if eligible) may be found at:
