Juste returned from ........

I think my DH found the Butterbeer Ice Cream to be his "crack in a cup". He even went back to the park by himself one night just to get a cup. He's never done that on any trip we've ever made at a Disney before ( and we've been a lot). He'd go back just for that. :)

We also make a plan to visit after dinner for that ice cream too.

I second that vote...that ice cream was insanely good

Sal's is great as long as they don't forget you. Despite you checking on your order multiple times. Despite them seeing you waiting multiple times. Despite them sending out an order, getting it back because they'd sent the wrong order (delivering it to a room), and wondering whose order that was, while also fielding "where is our order?" questions the entire time.

If only it was just one visit where they forgot us.

Anyway, what were the kids meals? We never go for breakfast. They change to lunch SO early there just seems to be no point. Would it be better to have kids share an adult meal?

i remember that time you posted about not getting your food you ordered.
they simply forgot you!

and wouldn't recognize it.

the food should have been free due to that.

Wow, we can't count how many times we have eaten there and never an issue. One night after a concert this past year it took a while to get our food but they were packed.

I'm sorry you experienced this, and I'm with Mac is should have been comped.

I feel by giving an example "2 children's breakfast $26" gives an example of what I consider "crazy expensive", my hope was to give the reader an idea of what I consider expensive for 2 kids breakfasts. Had I not given an example I would agree it would be a broad statement. I think $5 for frozen butter beer is a bit high but worth ever single penny!

We would go back for lunch items but not breakfast!

SnowWitch, if i paid $26 for 2 kids breakfast, i would say that's expensive.
or i might say it was highway robbery........

i think you are a better mother than me.

i would have told my kids to eat popcorn for breakfast and wait til lunch to do that place .....

i don't care how much that crack in a cup costs.
i would pay more than $5 for it......
i'm hooked on it.

I've yet to try the warm Butterbeer....

I fear I may never be able to leave Universal after I try it.

The second time it happened, it was SO bad that I think they did comp it and they sent up a gift basket the next day. Forgot us, forgot us again, told us they would send the pizza to our room, sent the wrong pizza (wrong size?), argued with DH on the phone about it, finally refunded and and I think sent up another.

The first time it happened (two different trips here), oh I'd really have to refer to my trip reports for specifics, but we thought it was bad at the time but it wasn't as bad as the second time.

But we do love getting a pizza and their simple salads! :) We just dine IN now. :)

We had the all American kids breakfast and the kids pancake breakfast, they did come with drinks, and I will say the 2 girlies and I shared it but I felt like $7.99 would have been comparable to what the competition charges for the same standard breakfast fair. Now had frozen butter beer had been a beverage option I could rationalize the difference in ric. Sadly, butter beer was not an option at breakfast.

Don't give me to much credit I'm sure at some point they may have been allowed a cupcake for breakfast on one trip or another.

There's something wrong with cupcakes for breakfast? :rolleyes1

Breakfast at Three Broomsticks started out as being for Harry Potter package people only. Only a few diehard Potter fans who really, really wanted to eat in Three Broomsticks actually paid the per plate price if there was space left available. I guess if people will pay that price, Universal will charge that price. I still compare it to the Be Our Guest Restaurant at MK where kids are charged $11.99 for their breakfast plates as well and adults are $19.99. That's not a buffet price. It seems to be an atmosphere upcharge, I guess.

The only other place that sells standard breakfast at the parks (other than Leaky Cauldron where the price and atmosphere is the same) is the character breakfast and it is $12.99/kids. Maybe they think the two are comparable?

It is highway robbery, for sure. But I guess enough people are paying it.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but we received a 10% discount by paying with Amex at the ice cream place at Diagon Alley. I didn't notice this discount at the other US restaurants.

Sounds like it was worth it, at the very least, especially if the two meals fed 3 people? Was it good?

Breakfast at themeparks is expensive, that's for sure!

We had the chocolate chili and the butter beer ice cream, Awesome!!!!!

I had butter beer and the earl grey...changed my life it did. Only thing better would be eating a chocolate frog on the hog warts express.

Oh, lordy.... That earl grey & lavender ice cream is dreamy. I'm salivating just thinking about it.

How am I ever going to choose? All the flavors sound amazing. In especially intrigued by earl grey though
